"So you mean to tell me that you and Jake have become friends?" Kimmy asked confused as we took notes down in physics class.

"Well I guess, yea. I hung out with his friends and him the other day and then yesterday he wanted to come to the mall with me. I mean honestly it's kind of nice. I don't know, how close we are now is better than the way he was treating me when I first came here so that's a plus," the teacher changed the slide quickly and I groaned as I looked over to Kimmys paper to see if she got the last bullet down.

"So this is platonic or how does this work?" She asked furrowing her eyebrows.

I think about the other night in his room, how he put his arm around me and told me he wanted to be the first one to give me that feeling. I couldn't tell Kimmy that, though especially since she might tell Ryan. "It's platonic. I mean he flirts but I have no interest. I don't know it's weird but it seems to work for us. The fighting has stopped so I'm happy." Kimmy gave me an odd look and I turned, pretending to focus on the board up front.

Jake and I were friends right? Or did he not yet think of me that way? Do I think of him that way? Can I even trust Jake like a friend? He is so touch and go...although he has been there for me and as of recent makes me laugh. I took a deep breath tapping my pen against my cheek, I guess I don't know what we are.

I'd like to think we were friends but Jake obviously wants to get to the part where there are benefits. I don't know, maybe we don't need a label for our relationship. Did it even matter? We just met really, it was too soon to say if we were even friends let alone the details of what the friendship entailed.

"Well, despite his infamous track record, he seems to be a nice guy among his friend group. Just be careful" Kimmy warns sending a wink my way.

I smiled and rolled my eyes playfully, "You know I will"

"If you do sleep with him though you better tell me" she says biting her lip trying to hide her smirk.

"Yeah I don't see that happening, but if for some reason it does, you will be the first to know."

"Awesome" she smiled and then stretched her arms above her head, her shirt rising up slightly to expose her belly button.

"Did that hurt?" I ask pointing to the shiny jewelry pierced through the skin.

"It burned a bit after but the piercing itself didn't hurt. It took like two seconds. My nose piercing hurt more. That shit makes you cry" she laughed.

I looked at the small jewel in her nose and sighed, "I've always wanted a piercing but my parents would kill me. I get my ears pierced but anywhere else is a no. They say that piercings aren't 'professional'," I roll my eyes remembering the many lectures I got anytime I mentioned getting a piercing to my parents.

"Girl, you should totally get your belly button pierced," she looked up at the board again trying to copy a couple more words before the slide changed.

"My parents won't let me. I need their consent," I had given up on taking notes by now, I figured the teacher would post the notes online or I'd get them from someone.

She smiled and leaned in close to me, "If you can get them to sign a consent form without them knowing about it, then VIOLA, piercing" her eyes had a mischievous glint in them and I got a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.

"Kimmy that's illegal" I whispered even though we were talking about body piercings and not grand larceny.

"Oh please Chels, tons of people do it. Plus it's your parents actual signature. If they get mad just tell them for anytime you have to look 'professional' it'll be covered by a blouse or dress anyway."
