Sebastian gripped the steering wheel tight as his knuckles turned white.
The thoughts that ran through his mind were filled of hurt and betrayal but his façade was stern and serious as always.
He was always unreadable to all but one person.
The warehouse wasn't too far from his house but he planned on taking Jaxon somewhere else to talk, afraid that those who heard him suspecting Jaxon would spread rumors if they dared.
Sebastian's urge to hit the gas more and more filled the night sky and empty roads.
The sound of his engine roared as he quickly went from a 25 to 90 MPH.
It wasn't long before he pulled into the warehouse parking and stopped the car in the middle of the road.
There, a tired and sleepy Jaxon still dressed in basketball shorts and a tank top walked closer to the car.
"What did you need so early in the morning?" Jaxon questioned, sleep still laced in his voice. "Is something wrong?"
"Get in the car." Sebastian grumbled.
"What crawled up your ass this early in the morning?" Jaxon muttered, not even having time to buckle his seat belt when Sebastian took off.
Normally, the banter between them was taken light-heartedly but Jaxon quickly stopped as he read the mood.
Something was wrong.
Sebastian driving without a word out of his mouth was never a good sign.
"Bro, are you okay?" Jaxon asked, "Where are we going?"
Sebastian didn't respond as he stepped on the gas once more and pulled out onto the empty freeway.
The silence was excruciating for Jaxon, he had only seen Sebastian this quiet when something really really bad was about to happen to someone.
And from what he knew, no one was schedule for today.
Thirty minutes quickly passed and Jaxon looked up from his phone to see a familiar sight.
It was a cliff that hung on the outskirts of town.
It was a place that the two of them discussed private matters while still being able to take a breath of fresh air and cool down.
"Tell me honestly." Sebastian started as he put the car into park, "Loyalty. Do you have it?"
Despite being wary of the upcoming answer, Sebastian didn't bother to turn and look at Jaxon.
"Are you tripping Sebastian?" Jaxon chuckled, "Is this the bullshit you woke me up for?"
"Answer the question." He insisted, his patience growing thin.
"What do you—"
Jaxon shut up as he caught the manila envelope that Sebastian threw at him.
It was a dumb idea on Sebastian's part to give Sebastian the very proof against him yet still, he refused to believe what he saw on paper.
"Did you or did you not pay someone off to attack Arielle?" Sebastian questioned, his voice remaining dangerously still.
"What is this crap?" Jaxon muttered as he shuffled through the pictures in front of his eyes.
"Did you or did you not?" Sebastian asked again, his voice getting deeper and deeper.
"I didn't!" Jaxon exclaimed, "You know she's like a sister to me!"
"Then explain this." Sebastian demanded, confused and lost.
It didn't add up.
The proof was laid out right in front of their eyes.
Was Jaxon lying?
If he could betray Sebastian, then lying wouldn't have been that much harder right?
"For starters, who did you get this from?" Jaxon asked, looking carefully at the evidence.
"Zach." Sebastian replied.
"Have you noticed anything strange about him lately?" Jaxon questioned, his eyebrows furrowing at the image just as something clicked.
"Why?" Sebastian continued, "Do you think something's suspicious?"
Despite being frustrated, not knowing who to believe, Sebastian couldn't deny that after all this, he still trusted Sebastian more than Zach. Their relationship was closer than Sebastian to any other he worked with.
"Sebastian, this is a photo of me giving money to Mr. Honea to complete the transaction from last week." Jaxon explained, "The phone was only out so we would have an electronic copy of his signature."
Sebastian sat in shock as he briefly recalled the scheduled meeting between the two, "So these photos were photoshopped, why would Zach do that?"
"They were photoshopped pretty good too, it had me thrown off for a second." But Jaxon scoffed and rolled his eyes, "Still, I can't believe you thought I would betray you like that, I'm pretty not fucking dumb."
After receiving a glare from Sebastian, Jaxon quickly shut up.
"So it's Zach, but why?" The question repeated over and over in Sebastian's mind until he was interrupted by an aggressive nudge.
"What? I'm trying to think." He grumbled before Jaxon shushed him.
"Don't make it obvious but is it just me or do you see those dimmed headlights in the rear view mirror too?" Jaxon pointed out, causing Sebastian to slowly look up.
Behind then no too far on the other side of the road, sat a car who's dimmed headlights caught a glare in the mirror.
Someone was following them.
"Get out of here. Something is wrong." Jaxon muttered, his hand instinctively reaching for his gun.
Before having the chance to pull out from the cliff, the other car quickly pulled away and sped off.
"Who do you think they are?" Sebastian questioned, debating on whether to follow them in the dark night, "What do you think they want?"
Despite nothing being said, Sebastian couldn't shake the instinct that something very bad was about to happen.
"Hey, where's Arielle?" Jaxon asked, turning to look at Sebastian worriedly.
"She's at home—" Before he finished his sentence, he just knew.
"I have a feeling she might not be alone."
