Tuesday 25th December 1984:

Remus woke up, his heart pounding out of his chest as he swung his legs over the side of the bed. There was a quiet snort and a weight lifted off of the other side of the mattress. He looked toward the snort, seeing his fiance standing straight up, clicking her back into place.

He smiled and stood up, copying her actions, his back giving a small satisfying click. He shuffled toward her and kissed her forehead,
"Mornin' Dora and Happy Christmas." the pink haired girl smiled and nuzzled her face into the crook of his pale, scarred neck. She gently kissed the skin and he felt her smile.
"Good morning to you too. I guess this whole pregnancy thing is your Christmas present." he chuckled heartily and made his way down the carpeted stairs and managed to make himself a cup of coffee, rubbing the sleep out of his golden, honey coloured eyes.

Two thin arms wrapped around his waist and he smiled, setting the brown mug down onto the counter and turning himself around to face his short lover.
"Love you," she mumbled into his bare chest, he chuckled and kissed the top of her head gently.
"Ditto."

It had been a day and a half since Sirius was first hospitalised. He was getting better physically, but his mental state was apparently worsening since the news about Tonks and Remus's new baby. The younger man would always wonder what would have happened if he and Sirius had never met. Would Sirius be completely ok?
Would he be safer if Remus left him alone?
Did Sirius still think about him the way he did Sirius?
Did he love Sirius?
These thoughts usually kept the tawny haired man up at night.

Occasionally, Tonks would wake and notice the curtains and doors that lead to their personal balcony open, only to be met with the emptiness Remus's quiet sobs and pleas for Sirius's recovery. She did worry for her cousin's health too, of course she did! He was her family for Pete's sake! But, alas, the woman could never shake that strange feeling that Remus still harboured feelings for the other man.

She sighed and released her fiance, her smile fading as her eyes landed on his.

"Remus, we need to talk."

-

Tonks was still as a statue as Remus told her the entire story.
"we we're drunk, Dora! You can't blame me for something we had completely no contr-" she looked down, her eyesight fuzzing and warm tears gently ran their ways down her pale pink cheeks.
"You love him, don't you, Remus?" He sighed and ran a hand through his hair.
" Look, Nympha- I mean Tonks. We'll talk about this after my shift at my Café." The pink girl sighed and nodded, listening to the rustling sounds of her fiance pulling on his coat and boots. The door opened and she called out to him, her voice hoarse from every one of her suppressed tears,
"I love you..." His familiar reply sounded through the suddenly very empty apartment.
"Ditto..."

-

Remus soon arrived at his small Cafe, a whole line of people where waiting to be served, some sat in the chairs and others standing outside under the parasol to avoid the splatters of rain. He waved and smiled at familiar faces as he made his way to the wooden counter, hanging up his coat and grabbing the cream coloured apron.
"So, what's going on with you and Sirius?" Authur asked, still making the large with the help of the large coffee maker.
"I haven't seen him since he was hospitalized, he was apparently discharged this morning and has been kept under watch since."

Arthur shivered,
"Being 'under watch' sounds kinda creepy to me." Remus chuckled and gently took the small, porcelain cup from under the latte machine and poured milk in the shape of a small, creamy white heart.
"Arthur, everything sounds creepy to you."

He smiled as the white froth wobbled along with the jello it was being served with, two yellow dollops of vanilla ice cream melting atop and next to the jello in the warm temperature of the Café itself.

-

Remus inhaled sharply as he held onto his apartment door handle, his own hand was shaking as he weakly pushed the metal bar down and opened the white door.
"Glad you could join us, Remus." The scarred man looked downward at his fiance, she wasn't impressed. At all. She walked down the corridor toward the sitting room, completely ignoring every attempt Remus made to reassure her everything was fine.
"What is this about, Tonks? Is it still that stupid conversation about Padf- Sirius and I from this morning? Because if it is, that little fling is over! I've mov-" he stopped dead in his tracks when they entered the sitting room.

There, sat on their beige sofa, in all his glory; was Sirius Black. His long, dark, wavy brown hair lay across his shoulders, framing his face. His hurt, confused, angry and sad looking face.

Remus was torn.

They both knew.

If anyone gets the movie reference in this chapter, I love you.

I'll give you a clue; It's the line Remus says every time Tonks says she loves him.
