"I'm sorry, Moony..."

"I know, and that's why I want you to raise Harry yourself."

-

"W- what? Remus, I can't raise a child! Hell, I can't even take care of myself!" Sirius was panic-stricken. He couldn't raise a child! He had nowhere to live with it! Grimmauld place wasn't really the best place for children, what with that awful picture of his mother on the third floor hallway wall.

"you heard me, padfoot. Raise Harry yourself or send him to live with Lily's sister." Remus reasoned. He smiled sadly at his friend but continued on his way, fading into the midnight fog of the London streets.

-

Remus's words stuck with Sirius, his mind made up that he'd raise Harry as his own. No matter what they may face together, they'd face it as that, together.

He managed to find the orphanage that was keeping little Harry. Staring up at the building gave Sirius a cold, empty feeling of regret and sadness. It reminded him strongly of his own boarding school, Durmstrang Institute.

Sirius sat up grumpily, his head aching and his bed hair an absolute mess. He turned over and seized the hand of the moron poking him.
"Prongs, it's five am! Classes don't start for another five hours." He grumbled, forcing himself out of bed when the persistent Potter just wouldn't stop poking him.
"I know, Padfoot. That's the whole point! We have five hours to set up as many pranks as we can to bully Snivellous" Sirius had to admit,it was a good idea.

Sirius Black and James Potter attended Durmstrang Institute, along with Severus Snape, Arthur Weasley and Peter Pettigrew. That day, they where getting a visit from the female students of the all girls boarding school, Beauxbatons.

Sirius pulled on his deep brown trousers, crimson robes and the school's signature shoulder cape of brown, matted wool. He buckled up the last belt running across his chest and walked out of the form bathroom, seeing an over excited James jumping around holding multiple joke items from a joke shop in a nearby village called 'Zonko's' Sirius smiled and grabbed a few dung bombs and they rushed around the massive, stone castle in the pitch black setting all sorts of stupid pranks and jokes.

Now, all they had to do was wait.

-

Shrill screams and deep yells sounded through the castle of Durmstrang. Beauxbatons girls covered in orange, pink, black, green, yellow and brown goo cried out in shock and rage as their pinafore dresses and hats changed from their usual baby blue to the color of goo they received. Durmstrang boys shouted and cursed the two second year pranksters they all knew about very well. All, that was unless you count three people. A Beauxbatons girl named Auriga Black and two Durmstrang boys named Arthur Weasley and Peter Pettigrew.

Auriga seemed amused with her new black pinafore dress and hat. She laughed along with her older brother,Sirius, and James Potter. Though, she couldn't help but wonder. What was it like attending Durmstrang? Only boys attended so she wouldn't know. She'd made up her mind, she didn't like being a girl at all. Ever since she was a child she always showed a more boyish attitude than her mother's wished feminine charms.

Peter Pettigrew and Arthur Weasley were slightly annoyed at their capes getting drenched but laughed along anyways, smiling and waving at the very few unharmed Beauxbatons girls who, some happily and some flirtatiously, waved back, giggling.

The rest of that day for the young Black and the young Potter was spent either in detention or running from disgusting smelling, drenched or multicolored Beauxbatons girls and Durmstrang boys.

Sirius smiled at the find memories, but his happiness slipped away when he thought of his younger sibling, Regulus Arcturus Black, formerly known as Auriga Walburga Black. He smiled, recounting the multiple fun times he, Regulus an James would share as friends and family.

Sirius screamed as he was tackled to the ground by his younger sister. She laughed and poked her brother's forehead.
"caught you! Now you're it!" The older smiled and looked up, seeing his best friend, James Potter sitting snuggly in a tree laughing at the squashed male underneath his sister's weight.
"Alright, Auri. Alright. Just get off me and I'll get you back for this." The girl nodded stiffly and ran toward the same tree, climbing up to join James.

Sirius got up and immediately started whining,
"Not fair! How come you guys can get up a tree so quickly! It would take me years!" James snorted and cupped his hands over his mouth,
" you climb like a wuss, black! Even Auri here can climb better than you!" That made Sirius's hand shoot to his chest in fake offense,
"How dare you! I am older than her, therefore I'm better at climbing than her!" Auri smiled sadly but blew a raspberry at her brother for good measure.

He sighed and walked up the muddy stone steps into the surprisingly well kept lobby of the large orphanage.

He pressed the bell and waited for assistance, smiling politely when a middle-aged woman popped her head up out from under the desk.
"yes, sorry. Can I help you?" Sirius cleared his throat awkwardly and explained he'd like to adopt a child. "Oh, of course! I'll just need you to show me an ID." Sirius pulled out his wallet and showed the woman his drivers license and ID. She nodded and asked him to follow her down a white painted stone corridor into a large, multicolored room. Only two children where around. A small, ginger child covered in freckles and Harry. Sirius smiled and walked toward Harry. The young boy smiled and ran toward Sirius.
"Uncle Padfoot!"

The man smiled and picked up the small child, resting him on his shoulders.
"I want this one. He's adorable." The woman giggled and smiled.
"Little Harry here seems to know you already?" She questioned, confused. Sirius nodded and smiled kindly at the woman.
"His parents died in a car accident with him in the car, and an...old friend told me to raise Harry since he couldn't. His father was a childhood friend of mine." The woman looked mortified
"That's awful!" She smiled again, this time slightly sadder and lead him to the desk, Harry tugging at Sirius's black locks and giggling as the man gasped in sudden pain.
"If you'd just sign here, please." The woman said, her eyes bright but also sad. 'She's probably sad to see him go' Sirius thought as he walked out of the doors and into the streets once again.

He placed Harry down and held out his hand for the young child to take in his tiny fist.

"You know, Harry. This might not be so bad after all."
