Remus was sweating profusely, his tawny hair laying flatly against his forehead.
"L- Listen. I can answer any question you throw at me, if you give me a cha-" Sirius shot out of his seat on the couch, banging his fist against the table, making the mugs of hot liquid rattle.
"A chance.... Remus god forsaken Lupin. You have the audacity to sit here in front of the woman who's loved you for years and wa- Is pregnant with your child, who, may I remind you that you CHEATED ON. And you have the nerve to sit here and ask for another chance?" Tonks gave him a look and he slightly calmed down. He grabbed his coffee and gulped down the black liquid in a way Remus was sure wasn't healthy.Tonks looked back at Remus and started explaining the situation.
"No, Remus. This doesn't have anything to do with Sirius and your...ahem... Fling. It's about Harry." Remus had totally forgotten about the small, innocent, parentless child. He sighed and nodded, wiping away the beads of sweat running down his face with his hand.
"What about him? Is he alright?" Sirius glared at the man but said nothing.
"The government wants him to stay with either his only remaining family, his mother's sister's family, or you and I." Remus stared at the man, shock adorning his features.
"you can't be serious, you'd murder me in a matter of seconds living together, plus, I have Tonks and Anna to look after!" Sirius was mildly confused with the mention of 'Anna' until Tonks explained that it was their unborn daughter's name."You'd have to choose, Remus." Sirius looked down at the carpet, still clutching the cup so tightly, Tonks was scared it would smash in his grip.
"You know, Tonks. It's time you tell him what the hell is going on." Sirius snapped, his voice dripping with venom. Tonks looked saddened with the remark, her small, hopeful smile falling into a deep frown. She nodded.
"I know." Remus looked at her, his face full of concern and confusion.
"Tell me what, Dora?" She sighed and looked into his amber eyes.
"she's gone." Remus's heart stopped. She couldn't possibly mean... "Our daughter, she's gone." His heart tore in half, his face pale and his eyes wide.
"Tonks... Aborted it." Sirius stated, trying to be as gentle as possible as one could be in the situation at hand. Tonks tried hugging him, hoping it'd reassure him. Both Sirius and Tonks noticed the small tears running down the taller man's face.
"I thought that... After everything, I could finally have a family..." He wiped his eyes on his jumper sleeve and stood up abruptly, knocking the woman who was trying to reassure him off of the chair. He continued to the door, wiping his eyes on his soaked sleeve.
"I need some time... Alone" he mumbled, pulling on a pair of trainers. Sirius sighed and followed Remus out the door, sending Tonks a comforting look.-
"Moony, wait! You can't just leave her alone like that! She needs you!" He called, his voice hoarse and thick in his throat as he forced himself to shout over the howling wind. Luckily, the scarred man heard him and stopped in his tracks.
He mumbled something inaudible and continued down the street.
"Moony, please! Stop being a four year old and just... Accept that this is your life now!" Remus whipped around, stalking his way back toward the dark haired man.
"I will not be told what to do by... By an inbred scum!" The two men glared at each other for another minute before Sirius growled at the taller.
"How dare you. You can insult my parents as much as you want, damn them to help for all I care. But don't. Do not. Expect me to stand here and allow your dirty, pathetic mouth insult some of the rare people I actually love." The taller looked ashamed and nodded solemnly, not responding.Remus looked away from Sirius and turned, walking off to who knows where.
"I'm sorry, Moony" whimpered Sirius, his voice breaking and cracking as it spilled from his throat. He doubted the man heard him over the wind. But sure enough,"I know, and that's why I want you to raise Harry yourself."
