Monday, 17th December 1984:

Remus Lupin smiled lightly as Mrs. Mcgonagall complimented his latte art as usual, and thanked her. She chuckled cheerily and smiled back.
"It's no trouble at all, Remus. I'm pretty sure everyone in this area knows about your beautiful art!" he blushed and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Well, I try my hardest. Have a nice day, Mrs. Mcgonagall!" he waved as she walked out of the small coffee shop onto the busy sidewalk. He looked down at the small white, porcelain cup in front of him, sitting on the wood coaster. It was steaming happily, the translucent steam spiralling as it rose into the air, slowly and eventually disappearing, leaving the warm and strong scent of coffee as it evaporated. Gently, he poured milk onto the lightly brown froth, creating a thin line of white, eventually using a small amount more, creating at least fourteen little hearts.

The bell above the wooden door loudly rang, informing Remus that someone had entered the shop. He put down the small milk jug and raised his eyes from the small cup, meeting his best friends Lily and James Potter.
"Hi, Remmy!" she smiled, noticing this, he smiled back as quickly as he could.
"Hey, Lil. How's everything going?" he turned away from them, grabbing two porcelain mugs and placing them under the latte machines, pressing a few different buttons so the light brown liquid spilled from the hatches into both the cups.
"Well, there's a few things but apart from that, great!" she giggled.
"Do the 'Other things' have anything to do with your sister by any chance?" Remus shrugged, pretending to be guessing.
"How did you know, Remmy?!" James gasped, dramatically falling into Lily's arms. Well, was supposed to fall into her arms. She stepped backwards and let him fall, chuckling at the sound of annoyance that emitted from his throat.

When the machine was done with the lattes, Remus held up the small milk pot and started creating small patterns. When he finished, he stood up straight and admired his work. A big heart sat in the centre of each cup, both with the name of the other. He smiled and placed them gently on a plate each, taking them past the counter to the small circular table Lily and James sat at close to the large, well cleaned window, chatting and smiling. Seeing his best friends happy with each other made Remus's heart melt. He only wished someone would look at him the way James looked at Lily. Or the way Lily smiled whenever James was around. He shook his head, deciding now wasn't the time to feel sorry about his collapsed love life.

He was married, four months ago. Her name was Nymphad- Tonks, he loved her and she loved him. Or so they thought. After four years of marriage, Tonks discovered she wasn't interested relationships at all. She had refrained from telling Remus since she thought he wouldn't take it well, until she finally decided to tell him and he completely accepted her. They filed for a divorce and decided to stay close friends instead.
"Remus! Are you listening to me?"  he jumped at the sound of Lily's voice, breaking him out of his trance.
"I'm sorry, what where you saying, Lil?" he asked, feeling slightly embarrassed.
"I was saying that there's someone frantically ringing the service bell at the counter" he blushed bright red and automatically scrambled his way toward the wooden counter, giving the man an embarrassed smile.
"I'm sorry to keep you waiti- woah…" he couldn't help but stare at the man in front of him.

He was gorgeous.

His long black hair fell over his shoulders, the fine yet messy curls making it look like he curled it every morning. His grey eyes pierced Remus's soul, making his heart skip beats. His skin was flawless and pale, contrasting with his eyes and hair. He wore a black AC/DC shirt, deep blue jeans, black buckled biker boots and a black leather jacket and a dark pair of sunglasses sat atop his head, nestled in between his curls. Remus couldn't help but stare at the beautiful stranger. The man chuckled, a low, smooth sound making Remus blush even more if that was physically possible.
"Yeah, I get that a lot." Remus finally snapped out of it when the man started talking. He smiled in embarrassment and took out his notepad from his apron pocket.
"I'm sorry for that. What would you like?" he asked, smiling at the man.
"A slice of treacle tart, a black coffee and your phone number." the man answered, winking at the end.

That completely sent Remus off the edge. He blushed furiously, his limbs going completely stiff
"I-… he… did… you…wha?" the man laughed cheerily.
"I'm pulling your leg. I'd like the tart slice and a black coffee please." he smiled and scanned his credit card, paying for the items and walking toward the small seating booth opposite Lily and James's side of the shop. Remus stared at him, gobsmacked. Had the hottest guy he'd ever seen just ask him for his number?! He regained his grip on reality and turned around, grabbing a cup and repeating his daily routine. He gripped the milk mug, racking his brain for something to imprint onto the liquid. He thought and thought and thought until it eventually came to him.

A puppy.
