25 • "IF THE WORLD WAS ENDING"

Lucifer was spending more time at Lux than at home and I let him because I knew Lux was helping him cope with the whole Chloe situation.. at least I hoped it would.

"Come to auntie Maze, you little demon." Maze said as she took Esther from the little baby swing.

"And you need to take care of yourself." Maze said seeing my tired form.

"Yeah." I said, with Lucifer gone most of the time I looked after Esther 24/7. I barely slept, things were a lot easier when Maze wasn't on bounty hunts.

Weeks passed and Lucifer eventually started staying at the penthouse.

Maze always went back to Lux so I knew he was alive, just drunk most of the time.

I decided to go visit him, bringing Esther since she hadn't seen her father in almost 3 months and she's grown a lot.

Her brown eyes looked around the room as she held her head high.

I put on a little white bow on her head to keep her hair from getting into her face.

I walked passed all the dancing bodies, seeing everyone glancing over at me and questioning why there was a baby in the club.

I swiped my card to get up into the penthouse and the elevator opened.

I saw Lucifer in his devil skin, kissing another girl.

My breaths became shaky, trying not to cry.

Esther squealed at the sight of her dad, I tried shushing her before walking back into the elevator, I saw Lucifer running towards us.

I look up at the ceiling to try and stop the tears.

Lucifer caught the elevator doors before they closed and got into it.

"Amelia, it's not what it looks like."

"Like what Lucifer? Cheating on me?"

"She kissed me. Eve, kissed me."

"Who's Eve- Wait as in Adam and Eve, the first sinner? You two were together?"

"She was of my first love of sorts."

"Right, whatever." I said, shifting Esther to make my tired arms feel better.

"Give her to me." Lucifer said, seeing how tired I was. I sighed, seeing Esther coo at her father.

"I didn't want to kiss her, I got-"

"Emotional? I get it, Chloe got scared and ran. You drowned your sorrows in booze and then your first love came and got you all up in your emotions, so you kissed. As long as you can promise that it won't happen again, it's fine." I said.

"Really?" He asked, unsure.

"Yeah." I said quietly. He pressed a kiss onto Esthers cheeks before giving her back to me.

"I'll be home soon, I need to grab some things." I nodded, he pressed a kiss onto my forehead before leaving.

I took a shaky breath in before walking back to the car.

I closed the master bedrooms door as I got Esther to fall asleep, I wrapped the silky robe around my body and walked down the stairs. My black, faux fur lined slippers making soft patter noises.

I reached the bottom stairs when the front door opened.

Lucifer walked in, his coat gone. I furrowed my brows and saw Eve walk in.

"I didn't realize we were going to have company." I said.

"Eve will be staying with us for a little while. She just got here so she has no where else to go."

"Alright.." I said going back upstairs.

After I had finished setting up a guest bedroom, I walked into the master seeing Eve in my clothes.

"Oh.. hi." I say.

"Sorry, hope you don't mind. Lucifer said I could borrow some of your pjs. They're a little big, do you have anything smaller?"

"No sorry.." I saw her getting into my side of the bed. I wanted to stop her but didn't want to come off rude.

"Goodnight." I say, I carefully pick Esther up and bring her to the nursery.

I put her in the crib and sit on the hold out chair bed thing.

I grabs some extra pillows and a blanket. Sitting on the chair.

I grab my laptop, trying to finish my last paper before a long summer break.

I woke up to Maze shaking me awake.

"W-What are you doing?" I whisper, knowing that Esther was still asleep.

"I should be asking you that, why aren't you in your own bed? And on top of that why is Eve in the same bed as Lucifer."

"Lucifer said she would be staying with us, she just got in my bed. Wore my clothes. It's fine, Maze."

"You don't get to be pushed around by Eve. That's your end, this is your house. Act like it."

"It's Lucifers house, he can invite whoever he wants and never asks me. It's kind of how he is."

"Yes but who's been cleaning it, taking care of it until she never sleeps. You guys have a baby together, something's gotta change."

"Maze, it's fine. Can you watch her while I take a shower?"

"Of course. And please, knock some sense into Lucifer before I cut his head off."

I laughed.

"I'll try."
