SAIGE
The next day after waking up, while looking at the clock, I noticed it was only noon. Man, I guess all that studying last night made me more tired than I thought.
I stretch a little bit and start walking out to the kitchen to make some breakfast for myself before showering and getting ready for the rest of the day.
Maritza was still sleeping in which made me assume that she wasn't going to classes today, so I took off.
After I finished with my last class of the day, I decided to try and look for another job, which there weren't many around and when I came home, Maritza was awake and eating some cereal.
"Hey mamas." She greeted me.
"Hey sleeping Beauty." I teased her.
"I know." She playfully rolls her eyes at me and smiles. "Just don't tell my parents or Victor." She asks.
"You know I won't." I tell her while setting my bag and books down then heading towards the kitchen to grab a snack and joining her at the small round table.
"Oh before I forget, Javier reminded me that this Friday night, him and my brother are going to be doing a race." Maritza mentions.
"Really? What kind?" I asked right away thinking it's like a 'Fast And The Furious' kind of a race.
"It's at the speedway not too far from here and it's a lot of fun along with a lot of hot guys." She smiles and winks at me.
"Okay." I replied. "Sounds like fun." I tell her. "What time is it at?"
"At seven, why? Have a hot date or something?" She teases.
"No. I'm actually looking for another job." I tell her.
Pff. Girl I'll hook you up at the restaurant." She says.
"I can't work there." I tell her.
"Why, cause you're a white girl? Have you seen there are white people that come in?" She asks.
"Yeah but, those are customers and most of all, I don't want a handout." I tell her.
"Por favor?" She begs me. "My parents need extra hands and plus, they love you." She smiles at me.
We both then share a little chuckle together before I decide to accept the offer.
"Well thanks." I tell her.
"Of course. What are friends for? Not to mention the fact that you'll get some free food and they won't make you feel out of place." She mentions.
"True." I agree.
We both finish eating and start getting to our studies then hang out for a bit until it's close to 9 at night and we have finally both finished.
We both had been caught up in doing our studies that we didn't realize until just now we had skipped dinner.
I offered to cook us some food but we didn't have much and since I had no more job, I didn't want to eat out a whole lot because that's more expensive so we decided to head down to the grocery store and get some groceries.
When we came back, we were each carrying several bags in each of our hands and they were super heavy.
I ended up accidentally dropping a bag and since Maritza's hands were full also, she couldn't keep the elevator doors opened for me, which was okay. So then after putting the few things that fell out of the bag and pressing the elevator button, then grabbing all the bags again, I stood and waited.
"Need any help?" I heard a familiar deep voice.
"Thanks Trenton." I smile in relief at him as he takes a few bags.
"No problem beautiful." He winks at me.
The elevator finally opens up and we step inside while I press the number of my floor and we start to go.
Throughout the ride up for some reason I get nervous as neither one of us says anything to each other.
Then once we got to the floor and the doors opened up, standing there was Maritza and she quickly went from smiling to glaring at Trenton.
What the hell is that about?
"We've got it from here." Maritza says as she takes the bags from his hands.
"Hey, I was only trying to help." He says holding his hands up in 'surrender'.
"Yeah and I'm sure you're doing it out of the kindness of your heart too." She tells him sarcastically as she rolls her eyes at him. Then she begins going off at him in Spanish.
"Whatever." He rolls his eyes at her then smiles at me and begins to head up to his floor.
"Okay, what was that all about?" I asked.
Next chapter will be posted soon! :)
