VICTOR
I've loved the drive-in since I was a kid. Growing up, my parents would take us to one that was nearby or house where we lived at the time and once I heard there was one here, I couldn't pass up the chance.
Hearing and seeing her reaction was not just what I had hoped for but also made me feel relieved.
Right as it got dark enough, they began playing the first movie. It was 'The Joker' and after that was 'Doctor Sleep'. I had heard from Maritza that Saige had talked about wanting to see both so I thought this was once again a perfect opportunity. Besides, I wanted to see them too.
It was adorable how almost every preview they showed, she said she wanted to see it. So I guess it's safe to say she's a movie buff and a fan of Stephen King.
Halfway into the first movie, we had both been sitting and watching intently. Then the fifteen minute intermission happened before the next movie started and she had to use the restroom.
"I'll be right back." She says while starting to crawl towards the tailgate and climbed over it.
"Wait! I'll come with you." I tell her.
"It's not that far away." She laughs a little bit.
"Relax. I have to use the restroom also." I tell her.
We next start heading to the restrooms and I end up getting done before her, so I wait in between the restrooms for her to come out.
While waiting, leaning against the wall, I hear some girl call out my name. I look to see who it was and there's only a little bit of light so I can't see her, until she gets close enough and I recognize her right away. It's my ex-girlfriend and is the ONLY ex that I still talk to this day cause we remained friends afterwards.
"Hey asshole!" She greets me with a smile.
"Hey you!" I greet her back with a smile and we hug each other.
"It's been a while." She says.
"Yes it has. How have you been?" I ask her.
"Good. Not too bad. You?" She asks.
"The same." I replied.
"So what brings you here?" She asks me.
"I'm here with someone." I began and saw Saige over my exes shoulders coming out from the bathroom and tried something.
"Aww, a date?" She asks sounding disappointed.
I knew Saige could hear us and was pretending like she didn't care and couldn't hear us.
"No. We're just friends." I tell my ex while noticing how a little hurt and disappointed Saige looked, along with maybe a bit annoyed.
"Well then in that case." My ex says while stepping in closer. "You know how much I've missed you." She says.
"Yeah. I've missed you too." I tell her.
Then as we smile and a flirt a little more, I right away regret doing this experiment with Saige as she's still a little irritated but also a little upset to where it made me feel like an ass but then again, at the same time, it made me confused seeing as to how she said she practically said this wasn't a date. The good thing to this though is that it worked, she does care.
I noticed her starting to walk off back to the truck and I apologized to my ex and told her what I was doing. She said she had a feeling because of how she kept catching me look over her shoulder at someone. We laughed and then went our separate ways.
By the time I had gotten back to the truck, she was already sitting with a blanket over her lap while eating some red vine licorice and watching the screen as the movie started.
She made no eye contact with me at all and I decided to just ignore it for now.
It wasn't even halfway into the movie however, that I couldn't hold it anymore. I felt bad and had the need to apologize.
"I'm sorry." I tell her.
"No need to be. This isn't a date and we're not together." She says while trying to hold in how upset she really felt.
"Yeah but, I can tell it upset you." I point out.
"It's not WHAT you did that upset me, it's WHY you did it. I know it was because you wanted some kind of a reaction for your stupid enjoyment. I mean, what are you. sixteen?" She snaps at me.
"Ouch." I say but she has a point. I guess in my head, it sounded like a good plan but now, seeing her reaction, I regret even doing it.
"Why would you want to try and hurt me? Even if this was a date, why would you do that?" She asks as she continues watching the movie.
"I don't know. I'm sorry. It was stupid. But, you did react as though you felt hurt and a little jealous." I point out.
She then turns her head at me. Then looks back down at her lap quietly before looking back up at the screen.
"Let's just finish watching the movie." She says and we finish watching it.
Then once it came time to start heading back to the apartment and the moment we got back into the car, it started to rain.
This was gonna be interesting because of how long it'll take to get out of this parking lot.
Next chapter will be posted soon! :)
