SAIGE
After telling us what was going on, Maritza was upset as Javier and I waited for her and Victor to come out of the bedroom once they were finished yelling at one another in Spanish.
"Damn....She is really pissed off at him." Javier comments.
"She cares about him." I point out.
"True, but sometimes she acts like she's the older sibling." He chuckles.
I begin chuckling also. Then we hear the door swing opened and out comes a crying and pissed off Maritza but no Victor.
"Maybe you can convince him not to go." She cries to me.
"I don't know if I can." I tell her.
"Please, just try." She cries onto my shoulder as she hugs me tightly and cries even more.
I can't say 'no' to her now.
"Okay, I'll try and see." I give in.
Javier then takes her hand and they walk over to the couch while I take in a deep breath and let it out before entering the bedroom, trying to figure out what I'm going to say to him even.
When I walk inside and close the door behind me, I see he's frantically looking for the artifact as he yanks out the inn table and lamp out from the wall, pissed while mumbling something in Spanish.
"Um, baby?" I began to ask hesitantly.
"What?!" He snaps at me while kicking a spot in the wall.
"Why are you doing that?" I asked.
"Because supposedly that artifact thing is in here!" He yells at me.
Next he kneels down and thrusts his arm into the deep hole he created and moves it around inside until he stops for a moment, closes his eyes and slowly pulls something out that is wrapped around what I can only assume is the artifact.
He stands up looking at it as if he's afraid to open it.
"What's wrong?" I ask him.
"I can't believe that they ever kept something like this away from us." He says as he slowly walks closer towards the bed and sits down with the artifact in his hand as he sits down.
I start to walk over and cautiously take a seat a couple inches from him since I'm not sure in how he will react right now with me.
"I'm sorry that you had to find out this way." I tell him as I'm not sure in what the right thing to say in a moment like this is. IF there even is a right thing to say.
"I just can't believe this is happening. I mean, it makes certain things I remember growing up make sense now but still. The fact that they were ever involved in business such as this one." He says with tears in his eyes.
I gently start to rub his back and comfort him.
"I know you have to do what you need to but..." I began but we were interrupted when we heard the door open downstairs and heard Maritza call out for him.
So we hurried to head downstairs thinking it was Lolita, we hurried down there and there, looking around middle aged, almost having the same image as their father, I started thinking this had to be Lorenzo. High up in the Cartel. Which I could tell something was up when I noticed out the window and behind him were a lot of men guarding the house.
"It's been a long time." Lorenzo states.
"It has." Victor says.
"You're parents called me before they left to meet with Lolita's father and explained everything to me and I'm sorry for your loss." He says genuinely as he too looked sad.
"What are you doing here?" Victor asks.
"I am here to help you." He begins.
"I've got everything under control." Victor states.
"I'm sure you do but you have never dealt with people like this nephew. And not to mention that him and I have some history..." He started but Victor quickly stopped him.
"Is this all true?" Victor asks with a clenched jaw as he unwrapped the artifact and held it up for them to see.
Maritza and Javier, including me and Lorenzo's guys that were beside him all gasped and said under their breaths something, once again in Spanish while most of them then did the symbol of the cross over their chest and kissed their necklaces.
Is this thing evil or something? Whatever it is, the reactions on everyone's faces took me by surprise and makes me wonder as to its meaning.
Next chapter will be posted soon! :)
I will be describing a little bit of what the 'artifact' is in the next chapter but won't go into too much detail and will talk a little bit of its meaning and history also.
