It took a little while, but two days after Estonia's death was announced Lithuania suddenly sat up incredible straight in the middle of his breakfast and had a faraway look in his green eyes. Poland looked at him strangely, and Latvia was intimidated by how suddenly his demeanor had changed.
"U-Uhm... Vhat is it, Lithuania?" Raivis inquired quietly.
Toris blinked the look away and sighed. "I just... I just got the feeling. About Estonia, and vhere to find him."
"Oh..." Raivis trailed off and looked down morosely into his bowl of oatmeal. Neither of them wanted to say it, but it was a relief that Lithuania had gotten the sensation rather than, say, one of his enemies in the past. It was only right that he would be raised by his friends, after all.
Wow... Who would actually be the ones to take care of Estonia? Obviously Lithuania and Latvia would be the first choices because they were close to him both geographically and in a personal way. They were the first candidate.
In this age of diplomacy, it was unlikely that a nation would go out with the intention of conquering, but this was a new, impressionable, all but defenseless child. Easy pickings... This entire concept would be dangerous territory.
Lithuania's eyes wandered casually across the mess hall until he saw a head of tame blond hair-- well, there were a lot of heads with blond hair, but that wasn't the point.
'Finland vould help keep Estonia safe' Liet surmised, nodding once to himself. 'I know he and Estonia vere friends, so...'
He stood, looking between his two friends. "Latvia, vould you like to come vith me?"
"T-To bring back Estonia?" Latvia asked, and Lithuania nodded.
"Aww, can't I come, too?" Poland whined. Liet smiled wanly and put a hand on the Pole's shoulder.
"Not this time, Felyks," he told him apologetically.
"Hmph," he replied peevishly. "Okay, like, whatevs. But I totally get to see him and play with him when you get back!"
"Of course, of course," Liet laughed, and then he and Latvia left to go find Vale. There was a little earring with their names on it now..

The three children nations' numbers grew to four that day, a fact that not many were all too pleased with. It meant that more of their friends had perished at the hands of W.O.R.L.D., and it reminded them of their own limited mortality (if it could even be considered "mortality").
Of course, by then it was obvious what their next goal would be: to cleanse everyone's countries of W.O.R.L.D. so they couldn't go through with their plans of mass destruction.
"I know that we need to get to work on that stuff, but I kinda just want a few days off," America said in the middle of the next meeting as he slumped back in his seat. "Dudes, I'm just beat. Seriously, we need to take some time off and unwind for a bit."
"Zhese matters take precedence over our own pleasure," Germany scolded him. "Zhis is zhe state of zhe vorld ve're talking about, America."
"I know, I know," the nation with a cowlick sighed. "But, still! If we're not doing anything right now, then can't I at least put something together so we can just chill for an evening? I hate all this lame-o paperwork and planning." He slapped a hand over a stack of forms that sat on the table in front of him.
"What in the world would we be doing, though?" England inquired between sips of his morning Earl Grey.
Alfred F. Jones grinned a rogue-ish grin and replied with, "A party, of course!"
