The picture on the side is just for shits and giggles~

Also, maybe listen to the lyrics on the side if you would? I love the song, and it kinda makes me think of Matthew and Alice.

--------------------------------

Alice's hand fisted in the blanket as she moaned in her sleep, trapped in the clutches of a nightmare. A thin sheen of sweat made her brow glisten, and she ground her teeth over and over again. Still, nothing else had happened since she'd been made to sleep; with Vale at her side, the parasite inside of her had lain completely dormant. Curiously, though she tried to, Vale couldn't sense its presence at all.

'That is quite the ability' she thought as she put her hand on Alice's forehead. A faint flash of white light came into being and promptly vanished, just like before. 'So my magic is basically useless with trying to help her. I'll bet the parasite is sucking it up and hiding it within itself.'

"So, uh--" America paused to let out a wide, tired yawn, "--oh, sorry. So, what's next?"

"I'm going to take her back to my mansion," Vale reported, turning away from Alice's cot to look at the others. They hadn't left the medical ward to keep the event confined, even though it was nearly four o' clock in the morning. "There are better containment units there, and I can start my research on this." What she didn't mention was that she had the suspicion that her old texts would be all but useless in this endeavor. Something about this felt... unnaturally new.

"May I come with you?" England requested respectfully. "I still want to help if I can."

She managed a smile at him for that. "Thanks, Arthur. Yes, you all can come if you're feeling up to it. But I'm going to take her first and then come back for you guys."

"I've got something to do first," Norway piped up tonelessly, and made his way to the door. "Don't leave vithout me."

"Okay, see you in a bit!" Romania called after him brightly in an attempt to lighten the grim mood that had befallen the room. It didn't really work, but A+ for the effort, Sorin.

"We won't leave without you," Vale promised just as he left.

"Where's he going?" America asked no one in particular.

"My guess? To tell his fiancee where he'll be," was the Scribe's reply. "It makes the most sense. But, either way, I'll be right back." She hoisted Alice into her arms and disappeared, reappearing empty-handed not even two minutes later. "Okay, she's safe now. You guys want to get started with heading over there? It's safest to only take two people at a time."

"Okie dokie! Hero's goin' first!" Alfred declared, grabbing his daughter's hand. England joined them, and they vanished. Then it was Romania's turn, and finally France and Canada's. The two of them had been sitting off to the side, speaking to each other in rapidfire French. Every so often, France had to ask Canada to repeat what he said because Francis' Canadian-French was a bit rusty.

"Are you two ready to go?" Vale asked them gently. "Or are you not planning on coming with us?"

"I'm coming," Canada assured her as he rose to his feet. "You guys are going to need my help with her."

"It will be dangerous, most likely," France reminded him as he, too, stood up.

"I'm prepared for that. We were just caught off guard before."

"Alright, then," she answered, taking their hands and whisking them away. When they reformed back into themselves, they found themselves in what vaguely resembled a waiting room with its arrangement of furniture and little stand laden with the implements and tools for making coffee. America was already over there, brewing himself a hot cup of Joe.
