Chapter 5: New Friends: Part 1

Once at the school, Pearl noticed the boys had waited outside for them. Amy asked how long have they been standing there and Luke replied that it's only been 20 minutes. The bell rang for everyone to go to their first class. Parker and Crystal had advanced biology, Amy and Adrian had gym, and Pearl and Luke had advanced algebra.

By lunch time, everyone met on the rooftop to eat. Everyone except Pearl. "Where's Pearl?" Luke asked.

"Not sure," Crystal replied. She looked at Amy and Amy shrugged. Then Amy looked at Parker and Adrian, both of them shrugged.

"We'll go find her, we're her sisters," Amy said, standing up. She walked over to Crystal and helped her up. They both walked off to the door and went downstairs.

"Okay, I kind of want to follow them to see where they find Pearl," Parker says, "Anyone want to come?" Luke nodded and Adrian shrugged then nodded. The three boys got up and followed Crystal and Amy. They led them to the music room. Pearl was practicing their mother's lullaby. She had a microphone in hand, singing. Amy and Crystal looked at each other, nodded, ran into the music room, grabbed their own microphones, and joined in.

"I can't hear anything, let's go closer," Luke said. The three snuck closer to the music room door. The three girls were facing the door looking at each other while smiling and singing along. The boys stared wide eyed at their singing.

"Thanks for practicing with me, it was fun," Pearl said, once they finished the song.

"Oh come on, we're sisters! You're not doing a single thing alone!" Amy said. The sisters had a group hug and then heard clapping. The boys heard them singing the entire lullaby.

"You three are really good singers," Parker said. Amy approached him and told him thanks. Luke agreed and Crystal smiled at him with Pearl in her arms. Adrian stayed quiet and Pearl looked at him. When he glanced at her, she smiled and he immediately looked away.

"Hey, stop ignoring me, mister!" Pearl said, she ran over to Adrian and reached up to his face. She turned his head to look at her and his eyes widened, his face turning a bright red, "Why are you so shy?" Pearl finally asked him. Adrian looked in another direction to avoid eye contact while her sisters socialized with the other boys. She took her hand off his cheek and crossed her arms.

"Humph... well you can't ignore me forever, you know," She said, looking away. Something, then, caught her eye. It was a piano; she stared at it, thinking. Adrian followed where her eyes were looking and walked over to the piano. She followed him and sat next to him on the stool.

"You play?" She asked. Adrian places his hands on the keys and starts playing a song he made himself. It's the only one he can remember from the top of his head, and it sounded really good. Pearl smiled and started to sing her mother's lullaby. She closed her eyes, sang the lullaby, and Adrian kept playing the piano. He glanced at her while still playing and looked behind her. Luke, Parker, Amethyst, and Crystal were all watching in awe. For the first time in a while, Adrian slightly smiled, looked down at the keys, and kept playing the tune. When the song finished, everyone else clapped and Pearl jumped, not knowing they were watching and listening. She looked at the group, and then looked at Adrian. He was looking down.

Shesaw a slight smile on his face and smiled brightly, "Nice smile you got there!"she commented. Adrian shot up and looked at her, the smile gone and his mouthopen. She was happily smiling at him with her eyes closed. She slightly openedher eyes and he smiled a bigger smile. The bell rang for the next class andAdrian instantly got up from the seat. Before Pearl could get up, he held outhis hand to her. She put her hand in his and when she started to walk away,Adrian stayed next to her, his hand holding hers. Crystal and Amethyst watchedthe two walk out of the music room. They were in awe their sister found hersoulmate. Amethyst being the youngest and one to match make couples, she took apicture of her sister and Adrian holding hands walking out of the room. Shesent it to Pearl and Crystal and giggled. Crystal giggled when she saw thepicture and Pearl looked back at her sisters laughing and smiled slightly, herface a little red. Crystal put up her hands and made a heart shape aroundAdrian and Pearl. Pearl rolled her eyes and kept walking next to Adrian.
