Chapter 2: Pearlana's Past

Time to move onto the middle child, Pearlana. Her story starts in a big city. Amanda had placed her on the doorstep of the president's home, the white house in Washington D.C. This president's name was Michael Green and his wife's name was Terra Green. They have a 6 year old son named Nicolas Green. Amanda rang the doorbell of the house and a maid comes to the door. She looks around and sees nothing. She then begins to hear faint crying from below her. She looks down and sees Pearl in a small box with a sky blue blanket. The 2 year old had ocean blue eyes and dark blue hair faded to light blue hair. She picks up the child and blanket, holds them in one arm, grabs the small box with the other hand, and closes the door with her foot. She calls for Michael and Terra from downstairs. "Mr. and Mrs. Green! Come here quickly!" she yells.

"What is it, Hazel, we're very busy," Mr. Green says. He runs downstairs with his wife and as they approach the last steps, they look at Hazel and see the little girl in her arms. Mrs. Green runs to Hazel and takes the child. "Oh dear, is she yours?" she asks.

"No, Ma'am, for two reasons. One, I have no lover, and two I found her on the doorstep in this box wrapped with this blanket," the maid explains. Mr. Green comes to his wife and looks at the child. He yells for his son, who comes running down the stairs. "What dad? I'm a little busy," Nicolas says. Nicolas sees the little girl in his mother's arms as she says that Hazel found her on the doorstep.

"We're going to adopt her, right Michael?" she says.

"Of course, we're not leaving a 2 year old girl out in the cold like that! We're supposed to be GOOD representations for this country," Mr. Green says. Nicolas comes over and asks his mother is he can hold her. Mrs. Green says to be very careful, she's only 2 years old. Nicolas takes his new baby sister from his mother's arms and Pearl opens her eyes. She begins to stop crying and slightly smiles. Pearl giggles while in her brother's arms and says something. "Bubby!" Pearl says Mr. and Mrs. Green smile at their son as he smiles at his baby sister. Pearl smiles at her adoptive family and giggles.

When she's 4 years old, she started to talk like a 6th grader, helping her big brother with his math and English homework. Then, by the time she's 10 and Nicolas is 14, she started helping him with his high school homework. Every time she helped him with his work, he'd get an A+ every time he turns in his work at school. Mr. and Mrs. Green are surprised their 10 year old adoptive daughter knows how to do high school work without a single mistake.

One day, the principal of the school asked to meet Mr. and Mrs. Green to talk about their children. "Did they do something?" Mr. Green asked.

"No sir, actually their knowledge is very high. They've never missed a single assignment, their grades always stay at A+ for all classes every year, I'd just like to ask how they became so smart," the principal says.

"Well, you see, our daughter, Pearlana, is adopted. She was found by one of our maids 8 years ago. She's been helping Nicolas study and helped him with his homework. He doesn't help her with school, SHE helps HIM with school. In fact, Pearlana knows how to do senior high school work with no mistake. Nicolas, Terra, and I are all surprised by how a 10 year old can do such work," Mr. Green explains. The principal looks at them like they're crazy, so he goes onto his announcements and calls for Pearlana to come to his office. "Yes, sir?" Pearl says, walking inside, "Mom? Dad? D-Did I do something?!" she exclaims.

"No, you didn't, Pearlana. Your parents tell me how you and your big brother have been keeping A+'s throughout all year and years before since you were new here. They say you can do high school work," the principal says. Pearl nods, agreeing that she has the knowledge for it. The principal asks a front office lady to give him the hardest senior high school quizzes to see if she passes. The lady agrees and gets the test. The principal gives the test to Pearlana and tells her to pass the test with no mistakes and an A+ work. Pearlana agrees and takes the test and a pencil.
