Levi's POV

I watched as (Y/N) tugged the ginger boy—Issac—along with her, stride confident and resolute.

To see her confront the people I hung out with... It wasn't a sight I'd expected. Nor one I enjoyed. Usually, I didn't care about whoever got bullied by the group—they were either pure nerds or idiots whom were not socially accepted.

Sometimes, depending on the situation, I would join in, if the person truly was a piece of shit. Like Riverko. If I ever got the chance to bully him without him bullying me, I would gladly enjoy it.

But as the pair of them walked down the corridor, Issac turning around to give us one last look, I couldn't subdue the thought that she'd be bullied again. Or the unusual feeling that came from this prospect.

I pushed off the wall, arms untangling. Jarrod regarded me strangely, raking a hand through his dusted platinum hair. The redness on his face began to dwindle.

"What?" I snapped coldly, eyeing him.

Jarrod smirked. "Oh, it's nothing. Why didn't you join in today? I mean, that dork was quite pathetic."

I gave him a deadpan look. "I didn't need to make him more pathetic than he already was."

The guy snorted, glancing to the windows as the group separated into smaller ones. "You do you, Levi. But someday, you have to decide. I don't always want to hang around a soft-hearted bitch."

Me being soft-hearted... since when? I scoffed, walking away to find Furlan and Isabel. My closest friends. The ones who didn't judge me for who I was.

Whether I was soft-hearted or cold-hearted.

Your POV

"Whoo! This is increeedible!" Hange squealed, pushing her safety glasses up her nose that covered her original ones. I halted my experiment to observe the science geek, her rufous eyes brimming wide with excitement as puffs of cloud spouted from the beaker.

She opened the air hole of the Bunsen burner, turning the golden flame into blue which quickly increased the bubbles in the boiling water. Our science teacher came over to Hange's bench inhabited by her apparatus, hands folded behind his back.

"Hange, what are you doing? Do you know how dangerous it is to use the blue flame without permission?" the teacher questioned angrily, the vapour rising past his lab coat.

The science enthusiast lifted her arm, saluting him with great energy. "Yes sir! I have understood and assessed the dangers of using the blue flame, so don't worry!" With that, Hange continued inspecting the beaker, her hands hovering perilously close. By accident, her fingers brushed the glass and she jerked back, bumping into the science teacher. "Eee-ouch! Hot hot hot!"

Erwin, Levi and Mikasa glanced up from their own experiments, eyeing Hange as she ran across the lab, almost tripping over Eren. Connie and Jean smirked at the scene, while Armin bit his lip in worry. Hange launched herself at the washing sink, shoving hands under gushing tap water. "Huhhhh!"

I chuckled at her clumsy manner, but quickly shut my mouth as our teacher stalked after Hange, stiff pace promising trouble.

"There goes Hange's after-school hours!" mumbled Jean. He leaned back slightly, enough to see past Connie. Eren worked determinedly at his apparatus, unaware of the Horseface's attention. "I hear a certain bastard has had eight detentions these past four weeks—I doubt Hange has caught up to that record just yet."

The chocolate-haired student slid emerald eyes to Jean, a sly grin plastered on his face. "Oh, is that so? Don't forget that one time I got in trouble because someone was jealous of my PE score, so they decided to start a racket."

"What score did Jean get for his teamwork skills again? 5 out of 30?" I inquired playfully, chewing the inside of my cheek to stop myself laughing out loud.

Jean turned accusing eyes at me, and I sensed Eren giving me a knowing smile. "Excuse me, (Y/N). I actually got 17 out of 30, to be accurate. That's over halfway."

"That's done quite poorly, for someone like you," I shot back, smile broad. My eyes found Eren. "Compared to Eren who got 24/30, that is."

"Oi, oi, oi someone is getting cornered by hounds here," Connie remarked, thrusting back his goggles. "Not that I care about Horseface, but we should focus on the experiment."

I blinked surprisingly at Connie. When was he ever the mature one?

With that, we continued our experiments in silence, where I tried to ignore a pair of slate-grey eyes watching my every move.
