Andrew DeLuca- mistakes we made

Being Alex Karev's little sister has always been a struggle for you. Bond by the protective services that Alex would always provide. Joining the internship program at Grey-Sloan Memorial hospital wasn't exactly a choice but rather a necessity. Alex drives you to your first day as an intern you turn to him and smile.

"Thanks for the ride but I should probably walk in by myself. Once people realize my last name is Karev and so is an attending, I am probably gonna be isolated. They are gonna think I'll be given special treatment."

"Listen (Y/N), if anything happens or if you need anything you come to me and let me know." You smile and nod and walk into the hospital as confidently as you can in a strange environment.

The halls are so big and the environment was just what you were hoping.

"You must be new too." A voice that you didn't recognize came up behind me and you look to see a guy who looked just as amazed as you did stood beside you.

"Yah first day, surgical intern. (Y/N) Karev." You smile and hold out your hand for him to shake.

"Same here, the surgical intern part I mean. Andrew DeLuca, most people just call me DeLuca tho." He was attractive you couldn't lie to yourself. The two of you walk around in attempt to find the rest of the interns we would be working with, or rather against.

Karev's don't like defeat and they definitely don't like to be outdone. Between you and Alex, no one knew who was more stubborn.

Standing in the room with doctor Richard Webber was how you knew you were finally where you've been trying to get for years. You don't hear anything, you can't focus. You are overwhelmed. You look at DeLuca and notice that he has the same look as you and you calm down slightly.

The day goes by fast and you feel great, like you know you made the right decision when suddenly you hear the talking of other interns.

"She's an attending little sister and I heard they are close, she's says jump he says how high. She's got a majority of attending wrapped around her finger. She's probably not even gonna be a good surgeon." You drop the tray of food you held in your hand and rush out to get some air.

Alone, again.

All of your feeling you've worked hard to get over rush back.

You lean you back against a wall and try to hold back the tear that threaten to fall.

"Mind if I sit here?" DeLuca stands with his tray that has extra food.

You nod silently afraid to speak at first.

"I would be careful if I were you, I'm officially a social taboo."

"For now."

"What?"

"Your a social taboo for right now. Everyone here is just trying to make their mark. You already have one so of course they are gonna be intimidated but once you begin to show them your skills and abilities you will have your own name and suddenly someone else will be the center of attention for a change. Don't worry."

You smile and get back to work after finishing the food DeLuca so kindly got you.

Once you were finally able to go home, you feel like death but you feel accomplished.

You and DeLuca had managed to get close and you questioned whether or not it was a smart idea to tell Alex.

"Hey kiddo, how was it I didn't see you much."

"I think I'm gonna be okay. I made a friend and I think as long as he's around I'll be just fine." You look at Alex and hug him.

"Thanks for being my brother."

Alex seems confused but excepts and continues driving as you get your phone out and click on the phone number labeled Andrew.

Maybe we can grab a drink or something before our shift tomorrow?

Sounds great can't wait.

Andrew DeLuca, I'm glad you are now in my life.
