{Derek- under different circumstances }

You walk through the halls that have become so familiar to you. The halls of Seattle Grace hospital. You have been coming here for about a month now waiting for the day your sweet little sister can finally have her surgery. She's been in and out of the hospital for years now, every neurosurgeon refusing to attempt the complex surgery of removing the tricky placed tumor.

Then you came across doctor Derek Shepard. He was hesitant at first but after I begged him he agreed. I walked into the room where my sister resided.

"Hey!" I say seeing doctor Shepard, doing his final examinations.

"Oh (y/n)! Nice to see you. Every thing seems to be in order. If nothing changes we should be able to do the surgery tomorrow morning."

"Yay!! Thank you so much doctor Shepard." I sling my arms around his neck in appreciation. He hesitates but slowly places his firm arms around your back.

The next day.

They prepped your sister and send her down for surgery about two hours ago.

You sit in the empty room with a heavy heart and a lot on you mind. Your sister still has so much to look forward to. College, marriage, kids, everything.

You hang your head down when you feel a large hand placed on the small of your back.

"She's out of surgery. Everything went as smoothly as possible. She won't wake up for another hour or so but everything went according to plan."

"Thank you doctor Shepard."

"Call me Derek." He smiled down at me and a small smile crept up on my face as well.

"Will I ever get to see you again."

"Let's hope we do under different circumstances." With that he lead you to the icu where your sister now resides.

Two years later

"Yeah (y/s/n) I know!" You and your sister are arguing over the phone about your constant tardiness. Today was her first look at the hospital she hoped she would get to work at. Seattle Grace- Mercy West, you haven't been here since your sister was released.

The day she woke up she immediately stated that becoming a surgeon was the only thing she wanted. This is only her second year in college but they are letting them tour possible intern choices.

Your sister requested that you go with her.

You take a deep breath and walk into the building you had spend so many nights.

You looked around for the face that  you never could get out of your head. The face of Derek Shepard.

"(Y/n)!" You heard your little sisters voice ring out. You wave and walk towards the group that would soon tour the building that you knew like the back of your hand.

..."and that concludes the tour."

Everyone start to head out and you can't help but frown at the fact that you didn't see the smile you missed so much.

"(Y/n)? Are you okay?"

"Yeah, just remembering." Your sister joined her friends and you slowly make your journey to the exit.

"(Y/n) (y/l/n)?" You freeze dead in your tracks.

"Derek!" You smile as you turn towards the voice. He walks over and hugs you tightly. You missed his hugs. 

"I missed you..." You say nearly above a whisper. You had hoped that he hadn't heard you.

"I missed you too." He heard you.

You giggle like a child but you didn't care.

"So since we meet again, under different circumstances, what does this mean." You smirk.

"This means that I will be at Joes later and who knows I might just pay for some lucky girls drinks and food."

"Really now." You giggle and he smiled. You walk towards your car and can't keep the smile away.

Derek Shepard just asked you out.
