"I'm glad you have decided to reinstate your marriage by ripping up these divorce papers." Cadence smiles at the Guidry couple sitting across from her in her office.
"Well we have you to thank, ma'am," Mr. Guidry says. Cadence sits there with a puzzled look on her face. "What I mean is that if you hadn't reminded of us our vows, till death do us part, then we would have just called it quits." He explains further, giving insight to what Cadence was confused about.
"Well, I am happy that I had the opportunity." Suddenly there was a knock on her door. The doors cracks open and Derek's head pops through.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, I'll...." Derek never finished the sentence because Cadence cut him off.
"Derek, come in. These are my clients, Mr. and Mrs. Guidry. Mr. and Mrs. Guidry this is my husband, Derek." Cadence introduced.
"Hello, Mr. Hale. You have a lovely wife." Mrs. Guidry compliments.
"Yeah, she's a keeper." Mr. Guidry adds.
"Thank you. I like to believe I snagged the best one." Derek smiles at Cadence.
"Well, I believe the same thing about me and my wife, but I will let you have this one." Mr. Guidry jokes and winks at the younger man. "Thank you again, Cadence. Have a lovely evening." And with, that the Guidry couple walked out.
"Are you ready to go home, C?" Derek asked.
"Sure, I've been tired all day. Court this morning was kind of boring because it was obvious my client didn't do it. There was no evidence pointing to him at all. That's why I would rather have clients that live in Beacon County instead of Glenn County. Are you ready for dinner?"
"About that, I've made a decision that we would go out to eat tonight."
"Why? Is my cooking that bad?" Cadence joked.
"No not at all, but out anniversary is coming up and we broke ground on our house and haven't gotten the chance to celebrate." Derek explained.
To Cadence, there were more reasons to celebrate. She is two weeks into her second trimester. She has been dying to tell Derek and she knows he deserves to know. But she has an overwhelming feeling that something bad will happen again... She just doesn't want to jinx this baby too. She didn't even make it to 11 weeks last time, it was early yeah and she's made it to 14 weeks now, but another thing like Kate could happen again and even though Kate's dead, Cadence is still very skeptical.
On her drive back to the house, Cadence was tossing the idea of telling Derek in her head and finally made a decision. So far, it's been a month since they took Cory and his group down and nothing else has come. For once, the pack is feeling like Beacon Hills will go back to a sense of normality.
Cadence makes it to the house right before Derek and pulls into the garage on her side. She gets out as Derek is pulling up and walks in the house and sits her briefcase and purse on the counter and begins to walk upstairs to her room and into her closet. By the time she takes off her shoes, Derek is already up in the room.
"What restaurant are we going to? And how fancy? What time?" She asks.
"Acquellero, which you know is very fancy, and 8." He responded.
"Okay, so it's 6:30 right now, and we have to leave at 7:15. Sounds doable." She thinks out loud. Derek goes downstairs after taking 5 minutes to put on a suit, no tie. Cadence goes through her closet and picks out a perfect dress. Her hair is already curled and her makeup is already done. She just adds touch ups to both. She looks the mirror and smiles at the sight of a small baby bump. Good thing she made her decision.
