"So this was on your desk when you got to work this morning?" Chris asked his daughter, looking at the case work.

"Yeah." Cadence simply answered.

"But that doesn't make any sense. He's in jail. Why would someone send that to you now?" Derek asked. Cadence was trying to put the pieces together when only one thing made sense. She took out her phone and pressed on the name that made the most sense and put it on speaker.

"Argent, nice to hear from you. You figured out it was me that sent you that." Chief said over the phone.

"Yeah, I figured it out. But why did you send it now? Isn't your line of business finding people?"

"That's the thing, we have been trying to find him. He is, or I guess was, a wanted man. This case came across my desk about 3 months ago. I saw the alias' last name and that is why I didn't put you on the case. I put Boyd, but now that he is in custody, I ask you to do one thing." Chief explained.

"What's that?"

"Be the prosecutor on the case."

"I can't. He's..."

"Family? No he's not, you are not related to him. His scheme was to get ahold of your families weapons and money and then run off. He wouldn't be remorseful if he killed your father in the process. I think you owe it to your family to do this. Technically what you were to do is in the limits of the law. You didn't really get to know him that much, did you?" Chief asked.

"No, I guess what I truly know about him is what my father has told me and one night that we all had dinner together, but I wasn't really involved."

"Precisely. And since you are the only attorney practicing in surrounding counties, they would have to have you prosecute anyway. Since he was caught in your county jurisdiction." Chief fully explained. Cadence knew he was right and let out a breath.

"Yes sir."

"Good, Boyd will be over later with the rest of the stuff he has found and conjured up." And with that, Chief hung up, leaving the three standing around the phone speechless.

"So if that's not the real Cory, then where is my brother?" Chris asked. He got out his phone and went to make a call. Cadence sighed and plopped in her chair.

"Some other practicing attorney needs to make their way into this town. It's hard handling a private practice and being the D.A." Cadence pouted.

"Well babe, you're damn good at it." Derek said as he walked around the desk and kissed her forehead.

"You're just saying that."

"I mean it baby. But I do think you're right about another attorney. This much stress is not good for him."

"Him? Really?" Cadence asked in disbelief.

"Yes, I have a strong feeling it's a boy." Derek confirmed.

Later on in the day, after Boyd dropped off his work, Cadence was losing track of time putting pieces together. Boyd is really good at this detective thing, she thought to herself.

The gut feeling of her missing something that is crucial was overwhelming her.

"What is it?" Cadence was frustrated at this point. "I can get him on fraud, hostage, and attempted murder charges, and possible theft, but there is something else I'm missing. I just know it." Cadence continues to dig through the files but wounds up not finding what she is looking for. She picks up her phone to call Boyd.

"Cadence?" Boyd asks.

"Hey. Sorry to bother you. But in your case file, I can't find anything about Corys real name or who he is."

"Yeah I know. I couldn't either. It's like whoever he was before Cory was wiped from existence. I looked everywhere and couldn't find anything."

"Alright well I think I may go to the police station and see if sheriff can help me." With that both hung up and Cadence locked up her office to go to the sheriffs department.

Once at the sheriffs department, Cadence went straight pass the reception desk and then the deputies desk straight to the back office.

"Cadence, always great seeing you. What can I help you with?" Sheriff stilinski asked.

"Have you run any background check at all on the inmate who goes by Cory Argent?" She asked.

"Well, I was kind of hoping that you would help me with that." Sheriff confessed.

"Why? What came up?" Cadence asked, confused.

"Well. I'm not sure. His fingerprints really gave us no help. It brings up his alias 'Cory Argent' but only brings up the past 2 years. However, when I look up the Cory Argent and details your father has given me, I find a completely different file with someone else who went off the grid some odd 20 or 30 years ago." Sheriff enlightened her. She thought it over for a moment.

"Obviously, we know that the Cory that my dad knows is not the same as who is in prison. With no governmental help trying to figure out who he was, I believe there is only one option left." Cadence sighed.

"I was afraid of that." The sheriff agrees.

"My only problem is making that connection we find through this alternative route of who he was. And I'm not sure I'll be able to do that." Cadence thinks out loud.

"Well. If we knew his whereabouts before he was Cory, maybe we can piece it together backwards for the jury to believe that we found a connection to him with the real Cory with our last whereabouts of your real uncle." Sheriff suggested.

"That may work. But if we can't, I won't be able to use it in court. Much less give him the real justice he deserves." Cadence stresses.

"Well all we can do now is figure out who he was. Then hopefully everything unwinds from there." Sheriff told her. She nodded and called a pack meeting near the sheriffs station with the sheriff present to help make a plan.

"Sadly, the public and private records are giving us no hope as to who this man was before he disguised himself as my uncle. And Boyd counselor figure it out either so that means we have no real hope without the supernatural." Cadence caught up the group.

"I can only truly get Cadence in there on the record for when this is presented in court. Which means I can only get maybe 2 others in there." Sheriff announced.

"Okay, well who?" Stiles asked.

"Honestly? Scott and my dad would be ideal. But with dads weakened state, I'm not sure if he'd be up to it." Cadence looks at her father.

"Cadence I would love to help. But I don't know that man. He's not my brother." Chris spoke up. Cadence nodded, understanding the hurt and betrayal, not to mention guilt he felt for being so naive about wanting his brother back that badly.

"Well then, I guess Derek." Cadence suggested, thinking it wouldn't hurt to have another supernatural creature in there to make sure he was telling the truth. Derek nodded, hoping this would end well for the sake of his wife and father in law.
