Chapter 24

The sheriff ran in and he saw Cadence and Derek huddled around Kira. Her body was beaten and bloody with gashes all over her body. Just like Malia, only this time she made it there herself. She was passed out and the ER staff rushed over to the unconscious thunder kitsune.

"What do we have here?" The attending doctor asked.

"Woman. Early twenties. Significant blood loss. Lacerations all over the body. Unconscious. Unknown cause. Looks like the girl we just got in about 15 minutes ago." A nurse told him.

The team sped off with Kira and the married couple rushed upstairs, in order to find the pack.

"Scott..." Derek said, once they found them. He looked at the two and sensed their emotions.

"What? What is it?" Scott stood up and walked over to the pair.

"Its Kira. She just walked in downstairs. And then she passed out." Derek told him.

"She was in the same shape as Malia, that's what the nurse said." Cadence finished.

"What's going on? Why weren't they at the dinner?" Stiles asked.

"They both texted me at the same time." Cadence started, looking skeptical.

"What is it, C?" Derek asked. Cadence took out her phone and looked at the messages sent to her. She holds up her phone.

"They say the exact same thing. And that shouldn't be a coincidence." Cadence said.

"This was planned." Isaac said, saying what everyone was thinking.

Just then, Melissa and Chris come full force at the group. Scott rushes over to the two.

"What have you found out?" Scott asked.

"Well I had an expert on mysterious situations like this take a look at Malia." Melissa said, then looked at the hunter.

"This wasn't done by anything supernatural. This was solely someone who knew what they were doing. And they didn't it well." Chris said.

"Do you have any idea on who?" Lydia asked.

"No. Not this time." Chris said.

"What about Kira?" Scott asked.

"Kira?" Melissa and Chris asked at the same time.

"She just arrived. On her own. Same condition as Malia." Derek said.

"When? Is she still conscious?" Argent asks.

"A few minutes ago. And no." Cadence confirms.

"Dammit. Okay. If and when they wake up, they should be able to tell us who did this." Chris said.

"What if they weren't able to see? What if their eyes were covered?" Isaac asked.

"They will be able to sense and smell the culprit. And his voice." Cadence says.

"Maybe. But he knew what he was doing. They should've healed. But obviously he poisoned his weapons." Chris said.

"Okay. What if Kira knows? What if Malia winding up at the hospital was apart of the plan but not Kira escaping? She got here by herself. Right? So what if she found her way here?" Stiles asks, thinking aloud.

"Then she must know who did this." Derek finishes his thoughts.

"Okay. We need two people here with them at all times. We will all take shifts. I'll take Malia first." Scott says, still loving the girl that was hanging on by a thread.
