A/n Let's go ch.2

Jughead POV

What is this?  Betty doesn't act like this.

She hadn't said a word the entire car ride, which left me alone with my thoughts.

I racked everything that could be traced back to me to try to find something that could make her this upset.

It wasn't until we pulled into the driveway that my mind came upon the letters.

Betty POV

The entire car ride I was trying to picture what I should say in a situation like this. I would never have imagined having to deal with something remotely close to these circumstances, especially with Jughead.  We've had our problems, but I know there's love there.  Juliet and I are his chosen family.

After sitting in the driveway for what felt like an eternity he finally broke the silence, "We're here."

I reached for the handle before he can make it to my door. It sounds petty and ridiculous, but I didn't want to give him satisfaction. He looked shocked when I did it. He would always open the door for me and I would always get out with a smile on my face and love in my eyes.  Am I a fool?   I think one of the worst things is that this has made me realize is that no matter what he does, or how much it hurts me, I will never stop loving him.

Jughead POV

It worries me seeing her like this. It was like the light that I could normally find in her eyes had disappeared entirely.

I watch as she makes her way into our living room not looking back at me until she sat down on the couch. I took the look as a request to join her. I don't know what to expect but, by the looks of it so far, something bad has happened.

I walk into the kitchen and poured myself a drink.  There's no way I'm dealing with this sober.

Drink in hand I join her on the couch slightly turned towards her. The quietness was defining.

I couldn't tell if maybe it was me who was supposed to start this conversation. But I thought it was worth a shot.

"What's wrong Betty?"

Her eyes were glued to the floor, "You didn't clean up your mess in the study." I couldn't detect any nuance in her voice.

Was that really why she was this upset? Because I left my stuff disordered in our study? Something was definitely off because I know my Betty and she would never be this upset over something so juvenile.

"I decided to help clean up the mess while you were at work and I found this."

She pulled out one of the letters and I took another swig of my whiskey.

It felt like every night I'd spent in the city had been exposed.  I couldn't come up with a single words to keep the conversation moving. She decided to continue the conversation by herself.

"I decided to look through the drawers to see if there were any more and there were."

I felt her eyes on me, examining every crease in my skin, every lie I had told while my eyes stayed stuck to the carpeting.

"I read them Jughead. How could you do this to me?  To us?  Do we mean nothing to you?" her eyes beginning to fill with tears.

I was stuck trying to force out a response... I wish I hadn't.

"God dammit Betty..." I began to shake my head, "You just have to play Nancy Drew, don't you?  Have to blow everything up because you know your happiness is an act.  I know you, I know you'll always been miserable.  It's one of the thing we have in common, remember?"

I turned to meet her in her tear filled eyes.

"You're a monster..." I bit my lip and turned my head to hold in whatever nastiness was building on my tongue.  "Are you fucking kidding me?!  You cheated, you ruined everything." I couldn't look at her.  "Coward."
