Jacks POV

Could she be genuine about this?

"Jack, I want to help you turn back into a Guardian again," She looks back and me and says, as if she read my mind.

"But how?" I ask desperately. "Manny won't answer me."

She stops and turns around, taking my hands into hers.  She looks straight into my eyes.

"They're afraid of you, Jack." She says in all seriousness.  I say nothing, but gulp.

"What do you mean?"

"They turned you mortal, not me.  They were the ones controlling me, Jack." (f/n) explains.

I shake my head, "No way, I don't believe you."

"Jack, please! Listen to me!" She pleads, gripping my hands tighter. "They made you mortal, just so they could take you out?"

"What?" I ask in disbelief.

"They want to kill you, Jack!" She clarifies. "I heard it myself."  Before I could respond, she demands silence, while she looks around and her eyes land on the moon.

She puts her finger to her lips, "We need to find somewhere more private." She whispers.  I nod and follow her lead.

After a few minutes of walking, we come to a small cave.

"Don't worry, it's deserted, I checked earlier." She confirms as we crawl inside.  It's surprisingly warm and dry.

"Okay, (f/n).  Start talking because last time we were this close, you tried killing me yourself." I stubbornly hiss.

"Okay okay, so this is what happened since you've been gone:

After you left, nothing has been going on.  And that's not a bad thing, but the fact that it was too quiet really bothered me.  I never got news on anything, and I found it rather suspicious.  No one mentioned you, and if I tried bringing you up, the subject was quickly changed.  It was very frustrating! Once I gained back my senses, no one would tell me where you were.  So, I came up with a plan.  You know that the Guardians come together every Friday to discuss any news-"

I cut in, "What, like meetings?  I never knew we had those."

"What? I'm pretty sure you just skipped them.  But anyway, back to what I was saying."

"Sorry." I muttered.

"So, I decided I would infiltrate the Workshop, and listen to what's been on their minds recently.  I hope that it would give me clues to what has been going on.  After I got through some elves, I hid behind the door of the room the meeting was being held in.  And Jack, what I heard was awful.  I couldn't make out who exactly was who, but one of them mentioned about your recklessness and irresponsibility.  Another added on about your destruction of peoples property, and how that is a lot of work to cover up.  Then, one of them commented about how your extermination was almost complete. After that, I ran and hid underneath a table nearby as they all left.  North was the last to leave, and he walked the opposite way.  I ran inside and saw that there were papers all over the table.   I rustled through them, and I found one that was very odd,"

She pauses.  I nod as to tell her to keep going, "Well?! Get on with it!" I urge.

"It was your extermination plan," She said quietly. "It was labeled 'Project MAY-C'."

My eyes widen in fear, "Is what you're telling me true?" My breaths are quickening, and I feel like I can't breathe.

"Yes, but Jack, please calm down." She says, trying to soothe me.  I can't help it, I'm hyperventilating and I have a huge pain aching in my chest.

"Jack, you're having a panic attack, just calm down and count your breaths!" (f/n) instructs, but I resist.  Within moments, darkness greets me and I lose consciousness.
