Your POV

"I still don't understand though," I say. "How do I find my purpose?"

He sighs and rubs the back of his neck, "Well, it's not easy.  It took me quite along time because I had noone to help me.  But the easiest way to tell you is what do you have to offer."

I look at him, "What do I have to offer?" I stare at the ground.

"Well, yeah! Like, what can you do for people.  What can you do that's beneficial?"

It kind of makes sense now, but I really don't know what my power really is!

"But what is it that I actually do?" I question Jack, searching for an answer.

"Are you serious?" He starts to laugh. "C'mon (f/n) you're really not that stupid, are you?" He continues to laugh as I feel my face getting red.  I cross my arms in defense.

He continues laughing but he starts calming down.  With a few chuckles he says, "Okay, okay.  Well, North and I knew Manny was going to save you, like he did us.  So we kind of have been spying on you for the past few weeks." He looks down, stiffling laughter. "Oh, and you won't believe the things you say in your sleep." He loses it now, he's bent over laughing.  He's so irritating!  I just glare at him, but he begins to stop.  His eyes widen.

"(F/n), stop." He looks at me.  I ignore his plea and continue to glare.  He makes me so mad!

"(F/n), stop!  I'm getting too hot!"  He pants.   I don't care.

"NO!" He yells as his clothes actually catch on fire.  I immediately snap out of it, and I start to panic.  Did I do that?!

He hurries and drops to the ground, trying to pat out the flames.  He gets up, with burnt holes in his clothes and his pale skin was streaked with burns.

"I-I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to-" he cuts me off by putting his hand up.

"It's okay, I just hope that this means that you're kind of getting the hint." He awkwardly chuckles as he looks at the burns on his arms, face, and legs.

"I can control fire?"

"Yeah, that and air, water, and earth." His says casually, brushing off some ashes.

"Whoa, it reminds me of Mother Nature or something." I say, excited.  I can control all of these elements.  Me! The one who eats ice cream nonstop and can't unglue my eyes off of the TV screen whenever my favorite shows come on.  It's unbelievable, that someone ordinary like me, could have this huge plot twist.

"Well it should," Jack replies to my comment. "That's who you are."  I look at him in doubt and disbelief.

"But there has to be a Mother Nature before me, because the name has been around longer than I have."  I argue.

He rolls his eyes, as if I should know, "There was, we replace the roles of previous Guardians.  Like there was someone before me who did what I do now.  Same with all the other Guardians.  Notice how yours is just a title? But, we can die, if we're killed.  But techincally, we can live forever if we're careful.  But anyway, I'm just more famous than the other guy before me."He smiles and winks.  I roll my eyes at his ego. He shouldn't be this cold with such hot air in his head.

"Well, so what do I do now?" I ask, genuinely intrigued.  It's not like I can go back home, noone sees me.

"Well, good question." He sits down with his staff next to him, placing his head between his hands deep in thought.  I thought too, I'm trying to think of where the other Guardians live.  Of course, North lives in the Shop in the North Pole.  Tooth lives in her palace.  Bunnymund lives in his little cove in the ground.  And Jack lives...where does he live?

"Hey, Jack?" I break him of his train of thought. "Where do you live?"

"Oh, I live out in Burgess.  Burgess, Pennsylvania *representing! (sorry)*" I nod, satisfied with that answer, sort of.

"Why there?" I ask, interested.

"It's the only place I vaguely remember.  I woke up in a lake nearby and I tried so hard to communicate with people there, but it was frustrating, as you can imagine.  But I don't know, I think I might've lived there before I became immortal, but noone would answer me when I asked." It got quiet for a few moments, having those words hang in the air.

"You're lucky, you know," He whispers with a hoarse, dry voice. "You remember your past life, so well that you didn't even know you died." He softly chuckles.  His voice wouldn't stop cracking.  It sounded like he was about to cry.

He continues in the same manner, "It's terrifying.  Waking up with nothing but a name given to you by the Moon who you could've sworn couldn't talk.  The worst part is," he pauses. "I don't even know why."
