Chapter 18

Richard passed his hand thru his hair again and felt frustrated the baby had been here for weeks and Annalise had not spoken to him once. The baby was brought to him every day for a few hours and then would be taken away when he cried from hunger and hidden in his bedroom with Annalise.

George walked in and placed a drink and lunch in front of him. "She said no to dinner again sire..." he looked sad.

"George you know I would ne..." Richard tried to explain.

"I am no one for you to explain yourself to my king just a..."

"George you have been the closet thing I have had to a father since I was a boy." Richard looked at the old man before him with kindness.

"Am I allowed to speak my mind freely sire and avoid any consequences." George said calmly but Richard could see the fire burning in his eyes.

"This time... so make it good you have 5 minutes." Richard spoke softly.

"Richard you are an idiot a foolish man you fell in love with this girl when you were a boy I watched it happened with my own eyes and now that you have her and she is all yours and loves you and has fought for you... not just for your love but fought to stay alive for you, you do this. She gave birth to your heir had to crawl like a dog to..."

"Careful George!" Richard did not like the reference for his queen.

"Shh Richard I still have a few minutes left... she crawled like a dog to you for help thinking of only you to help her and instead she finds you kissing a woman... the same women who tried to destroy you before and I watched it happen as well! You allowed that woman to come between you and my sweet Annalise... how could you allow that to happen. That woman will destroy you and laugh watching it happen." George took a deep breath "I know you are a king it is not in your nature but if you were smart you would crawl into your room on your hands and knees begging for forgiveness until that girl forgave you and then still would live your life begging and thanking God that thru your mistakes that woman would somehow fall in love with you even when you do not deserve it. With all due respect sire..."

"George if you were any other man, I would kill you but your George and your right but, in my defense, I would never cheat on her. Kathrine kissed me when I was not paying attention because I thought I heard Analise and I have asked her to never let that repeat itself because she means nothing to me."

"Sire she should not be here in the castle..." George looked at him wisely.

"George, who is in my home and who is in it is my problem not anyone else's..." Richard let out stubbornly. 

"Of course, sire forgive me" George bowed and as he walked out he said "but this is not just your castle anymore sire... there is another in this castle who owns it equally and has as many rights as you... and another one yet who has come and will inherit it all.."
