Chapter 1

"Come on Saya, we're gonna a be late." Saya rolled her eyes at Karin's worried tone but she stood up none the less, her long black and red hair cascading down her back, stopping at mid thigh, she arched a single eyebrow before she narrowed her stormy grey eyes on karin who weakly laughed. "Come on now, it's just lunch Saya." "Fine since your dumb ass already called in advance." Karin just laughed and Saya once more rolled her eyes. If it wasn't for the fact that she had known Karin for a long as she did, she probably would have told her to Fuck herself, not that she didn't already say that though.
Grabbing her bag she looked at Karin "Let's go" Karin nodded and grabbed her own bag before handing Saya a hat. "This and the sunglasses till we are in the car." Nodding she put the hat and sunglasses on before the two walked out and in the direction of Saya's car. "You are almost done the book right?" "By book I assume you mean an I almost done writing 'the broken Soul'?" Karin laughed "Yes that is what I meant." Saya shook her head as she held back her own laugh. "Yes, the book will be done in roughly a weeks time as long as nothing slows me down."
This made Karin smile "that's great Saya, and then we'll take a year to settle down, let the book be enjoyed and you can work at a slower pace." She nodded as she unlocked her car and watched as Karin got in on the passenger side, while she had her own car, when she was with Saya she usually let her drive her car and she would be dropped off at her car after everything else was done. Other times Karin just drove her where she needed to be, she was just glad that Saya had finally gotten her self a car. While Karin liked bikes, the thought of Saya driving one of them in the snow or rain always made the woman panic.
Saya soon started the car up and pulled out of her driveway and headed towards the local restaurant. "Have you spoken with your father?" Saya in response tightened her grip on the steering wheel and Karin frowned, that was not a good sign. "Oh we talked alright, if insulting and screaming at one another counts as talking." Karin simply sighed. The relationship Saya had with her father was strained at best, if you could even call what they had a relationship.
The two never got along, and it only got worse after the girls mother was murdered. By what they didn't know, and it left a scar on Saya that never healed right. It kept the girl closed off, she didn't let people in, and those who were a part of her life were lucky. Those who stood beside her as she learned to move forward, who were there the day her father and her had a massive falling out. Which led to Saya finally having enough, she had chopped off her long black hair, and went down a path that many feared she wouldn't recover from.
She had even broken up with her boyfriend of 3 years saying she couldn't commit to him, she was dedicated to her work, turned out later he had been planning on leaving her anyway as he had been cheating on her for the last year and a half. It was beneficial to Saya because it allowed her to grow. And Karin herself had been there to help pick up the pieces. Hell if it wasn't for the girls self proclaimed older brothers she was sure Saya would have just drowned herself in work and eventually kill herself.
Shaking her head she saw they were now on the highway and she looked at Saya, a woman she honestly admired. Years later she was still alive, still breathing, she had grown out her hair and died the undertone red to blend in with her black, her eyes contained a hint of blue but were mainly grey, the tattoo of the number 2 with a half mask that contained jagged teeth, that was on her left shoulder blade. On her collar bone was 'Sacrifice and Repent' and along her hip she knew she had the words. 'Sin and repent...obliterate and destroy your foe. With a jaguar underneath it, the ironic part of it all was a sword was drawn right through the words and ended under the jaguar.
"Dare I ask what this argument was about?" She snorted. "What else? He thinks I wasted my life writing, blames me for looking like my mother...." karin scowled she really didn't like this man but respected him because he was saya's father. "What else happened Saya" Saya finally looked over, and Karin could have flinched at the cold hateful look in her eyes alone. Feeling her reitsu flare a bit saya inhaled counted to 20 and then exhaled once more reigning in her reitsu. "He told me that I was dead to him, that he has no child."
Karin's eyes widened, how could her father say something so hateful? How could he throw away his own child. "How...." she shrugged. "Don't know, don't care, this is his choice, I don't need him." Karin frowned again. "He's your father...." saya felt her temper flare again, and the more they spoke on it the more her reitsu slipped. "Right, tell me this, would a father blame his child for the death of another?! Would a father abandon his child in their darkest of times? Honestly Karin if it wasn't for Nnoitora and Ulquiorra, I would be dead and we both know it."
Karin had to look away, she knew how true that was, it was those two after all who found her. They hadn't heard from her in a few days so the two went over that one fateful night to go and check on her. The sight they found had scared those two for life, and pushed them to become the most over protective brothers known to man.  They had knocked a few times on the door, waiting to be let in when they realized no one was coming, not seeing the fathers car the two broke in and ran up the stairs to Saya's room. Breaking into her room they froze at the sight before them.
Laying on the floor with blood all around her was Saya, she had attempted to take her life and was barely awake, she was silently crying and waiting to die. Ulquiorra snapped to his senses first. Taking action the two ran to her and bandaged her wrist while Nnoi had carried her to his car. Needless to say it was an interesting hospital trip and a lot of therapy. (Not that Saya went. She healed slowly and on her own) that was the night Nnoi had insisted she finally move out of her fathers and live with him and ulquiorra from that point on.
Shaking her head she looked at Saya. "You're right, I'm sorry that was out of line." "It's fine, but perhaps we should change the topic." And with that the topic easily changed into a more relaxed one as Saya continued to drive to the restaurant.
