Chapter 7
Saya was now sitting in the living room, the pizza had arrived moments ago and now everyone was sitting around the overly crowded Living room. Looking around as she ate a slice of pizza she watched how Ulquiorra kept looking at his phone so she moved from her spot on the sofa and headed over to sit near him on the floor. "What's up Uli?" He looked over at her and sighed. "You could always tell from a glance when something was up." She said nothing and just waited for him to continue. "I keep getting messages from Orihime but I'm not interested in her....and Saijin messaged me as well."
That's when she noticed the slight shift in his posture "then ya need ta tell her to stop. It's clearly making you uncomfortable and I don't like knowing you're uncomfortable." Said man gave her a gentle smile, somehow Saya always knew what to say to help him calm down. "Thank You Saya." She nodded "never a problem, besides isn't that what family does?" His eyes almost widened at her statement, that was something he didn't expect her to say.
"In all of my years of knowing you Saya, that is the first time I heard you say it out loud to any of us." She blinked as she realized what he said was true. She might have said it to karin or whoever asked, but never to them. Giving him a smile she put down her place and leaned against him. "I'm sorry...I should say it more, and I'm sorry it took me so long to say it out loud...you guys are family, all of you. Especially you and Nnoitora. The two of you literally saved my life." He watched as grey eyes became glassy with tears she refused to shed. Wrapping his arm around her he held her close. "That's what friends do, and even more so what family does."
She only nodded and stayed curled up against his side. The two merely sat there in silence until she poked his face. "Now why don't we actually go see Orihime and see if we can't straighten out this mess." His eyes widened and he couldn't help but laugh. "That sounds a lot better then texting her." And with that saya stood up and reached down to take his hand and he froze. For a moment it was the old Saya, the same saya who once threw him through a wall yet walked over and helped him up, it was the same sensation. But this time she looked comfortable, and at ease.
Reaching up he took her hand and rose to his feet with her pulling him up. While no one else was paying attention the two walked out of the house and he found himself thinking back to the old days. Where it was him helping her stand back up.
*flashback*Saya was sitting in her room, curled up on the floor in front of her bed. She had just lost her mother, and she felt absolute devastation. Killed right before her eyes, she was roughly 10 years old. She just laid there on the cold hard floor, her father didn't check on her, didn't even look her way. It was like he blamed her. The only time she went to her father was when she wanted....no she needed to be held, she needed that comfort. So she had walked into the living room and gently tugged in his shirt.
He glared down at her and the heartbreak in saya's eyes was easy to see, yet he didn't care. All he knew is that it was her fault, that she looked so much like Setsu. "What the Fuck do you want." It was harshly spoken and she flinched. "I want a hug....I'm scared...." he snorted. "Scared? What would you have to be scared of. If anyone should be scared it's me." She blinked "why?" "Because it's all your fault!" Her eyes widened at this. "You look just like her! You....get out of my sight!" She went to speak, but his cold hearted glare pushed her away, forcefully creating yet another scar. One that wouldn't heal just right.
And like that the tears stopped, her father didn't care. He didn't care about her and that much was obvious. She went back to her room and closed the door. Curling up on the floor she laid there, the tears wouldn't even come. She was emotionally drained and somewhere inside of her something was dying.
Eventually she must of passed out on the floor cause when she next woke it was to Ulquiorra kneeling in front of her. "Saya...what happened?" She blinked as she slowly sat up rubbing her eyes. "I..." she went silent for a moment. "I fell asleep that's all. How did you get in?" He grinned "picked the lock, your dad ain't here." At the mention of her father she went silent and still as a rock. That made him frown. "Saya?" And without meaning to she told him what happened, and as she spoke the tears ran down her face. Ulquiorra was shocked, how could her father do something so hateful?
Reaching out he held her close and allowed her to cry till she couldn't cry anymore. And yet when the tears were gone and her face stained with marks he simply took and reached down towards her. "Huh?" "Come on, let's get out of here okay? We're gonna go stay with Nnoi." Saya sniffled and almost smiled, Nnoi stayed with a man named Urahara who was a shop keeper in his own rights. He took both boys in after their parents had abandoned them. Which wasn't the truth, it was just a cover story so they could live among humans.
Reaching up she took his hand and he smiled pulling her to her feet he grabbed her over night bag that was always packed Incase she needed an escape at the last minute. "Let's go Saya, Urahara will help." And with that she nodded a weak smile on her face but a smile none the less. With one last look at her room she left knowing her father wouldn't care. And she also knew that for some reason this wouldn't be the last time this happened either.
*flash back end*
As the two walked towards Orihime he couldn't help but smile, little by little certain walls were coming down, she was letting people in....at her own pace of course. Now he just had to wonder what would happen if she was pushed to far, what would bring back Akuma, what would bring back her powers...they were all questions he didn't have answers to, and he probably wouldn't have them for sometime. Right now saya needed to move at her own pace, she needed to let people in on her own, she had to want help. To accept herself before anyone else could. Even though they all already accepted her.
He knew she needed to learn to trust Grimmjow, and he and the others would stand by her side every step of the way.
However now they were In front of Orihime so he shook his head to clear his thoughts and clear up this mess. "Ulquiorra...Saya! You guys came to see me?" Saya shifted and nodded no. "I came to support Him. He wants to talk to you." Her expression fell slightly but at the mention of ulquiorra wanting to talk to her it instantly brightened. "Really?" He wanted to flinch but saya's comforting hand on his back settled him down. "I wanted to let you know that...I'm unable to return how you feel. I can't return them when I'm unsure of other things. I also don't want to get your hopes up either...so I hope you understand and are willing to give me space to sort out my own emotions."
She blinked for a second and Saya squeezed his His shoulder letting him know that he was doing just fine. Looking over at Saya she glared. "Is this your fault?" "Excuse me? Have you lost your damn mind?" "I think you misunderstood. I'm saying this because it's how I feel. And if you even imply that I see Saya In a romantic way I'm afraid I'll vomit." 'Not to mention a death wish.' He mentally added as an after thought. "She's a sister and nothing more. I have my own issues to sort though." That seemed to have calm Orihime down. "Right I'm sorry Ulquiorra and Saya. I have to go now, I'm meeting up with tatsuki." The two nodded and nodded the woman a farewell before giving each other a weird look and walked off heading back for Nnoitora's. Both oddly at ease with all that had just transpired. And just like that the first crack appeared in saya's walls.
That first crack allowed something deep within her begin to awaken from a very long sleep.
