alex looked himself up and down in the silver mirror propped up by his dresser, corner of his mouth quirking upwards. he had dressed up as an angel; not the most creative, but anyone could see he looked good in his costume. he wore a short black skirt that wrapped around his hips and waist, his legs encased in crushed velvet thigh high boots, and a small spaghetti string black top, with a dark mesh top over it. his makeup was light for the most part, but his eyes were accentuated with dramatic black liner and thick eyelashes. on his back, he wore wings that cost more than they should have and a small fluffy black halo donned his head, accentuating his newly blonde hair.

'al, we're leaving now hurry up!' george called from the other room. alex grabbed a small black handbag that hung on his door, shoving lipgloss, his phone and a few other things into it.

he opened up his door, sauntering into the living room, relishing in the click his heels made on the floor.

george was sat on the couch, his fingers gliding over his phone's keyboard. he looked up upon alex's entrance, eyebrows rising slightly. 'someone put effort in then,' he muttered looking back down at his phone. alex scoffed. 'at least i didn't dress up as myself,' referring to george's bandana and glasses. george laughed, moving his glasses aside momentarily to wink at alex.

the club was full of easy costumes, devils, clowns, cats, the occasional cartoon character. will had reserved a couple booths by the bar, surpisingly being the organised one of the group and the seats were already filled with people. alex looked around, saying hi to his friends, thanking them for their compliments, but couldn't find who he was looking for.

he sat next to fraser, maybe a little too close but fraser brushed it off. 'so what did you come as?' alex asked, batting his eyelashes, thigh pressing up against him. fraser chuckled, pushing his glasses back up his nose. 'kenji,' he said, gesturing to the dog ears on his head. alex tilted his head, and fraser felt like he could feel him peering into his soul, examining every crevice and crack. alex blinked, sat back up. 'you're cute fraser,' fraser's cheeks went pink at this. 'thanks, al, you're pretty cute yourself,' alex smiled at the praise, hips moving slightly, as if he was a puppy with a wagging tail.

alex slid closer to fraser. 'have you seen james anywhere?' fraser shook his head. 'he told me he was going to get drinks about ten minutes ago and i haven't seen him since,' alex hopped up from the seat. 'ok thanks,' he said, foot flicking up as he walked to the next booth, this one closer to the bar.

will, mia and gee were sat in this one, giggling and sipping on brightly coloured cocktails. alex sat down next to gee, greeting the three of them with a pretty smile. 'hi al,' will said cheerfully, his cheeks flushed and eyes blown out from the alcohol. 'like your wings alex,' gee said, staring in admiration at the fake feathers coming out from behind him. alex thanked her, joking about the price of them. he followed their conversation for a while, nodding along, giving the occasional laugh. but he was getting bored, his mind clouded over with other thoughts. he still hadn't found the person he was looking for.

'will, have you seen james anywhere?' alex asked, eyes wide and childlike. 'uh no, i haven't mate, think i saw him talking to fraser at one point,' alex huffed, standing up from the table, and marching off.

he stormed around the bar, desperately trying to find the tall man. scanning the crowds, he saw some familiar faces, some beckoning him over, but he wasn't interested in them right now. his eyes were blind to the dirty stares from stepping on peoples' toes, and his ears deaf to the loud music. irrational anger filled him; here he was all dressed up for james, time taken to look pretty, having not seen him in far too long and he couldn't even find him?
