"Umm, Ash I can't sleep."
"what do you want now, woman?"
After irritating Ash for about half-hour with my tossing and turning. Ash decided it would be a good idea to completely hold me down and force me to sleep with him.
'What the fuck are you saying Rose?'
Okay, so I didn't mean it like that.
'No shit'
But Ash had both his legs wrapped around my legs and both his arms placed in such a way that one was acting as a pillow while other was holding my arms down.
This happened when I complained the pillow was too soft.
I turned so that now I was facing Ash. Even after a lot of argument he had not allowed to keep the light open.
"Seriously Rose I need to sleep."
"But I am not tired."
"Well, I can think of a few activities that will make you tired."
"Ew Ash be serious at least for a second."
'You were thinking the same thing a few minutes ago.'
'No you were thinking it not me.'
"What?"
I realized I had spoken out loud.
"Nothing," I said hastily no need to explain my mental issues to him.
'So I am a mental issue now.' Dunkers said irritated.
He had closed his eyes again and was breathing softly.
"Stop staring at me," he complained.
"How can you say, your eyes are not even open."
He opened his eyes and looked at me as if waiting for me catch up.
Oh well yeah, I guess I was not so subtle.
'no shit.'
"Rose," he said softly.
"Hmm," I said back absentmindedly playing with his hair.
"Do you trust me?"
"well I am sleeping with you, am I not?" I said back with heavy sarcasm.
"Rose," he said again wanting my undivided attention.
I looked in his eyes.
"Do you trust me?" he asked again.
Did I trust him? I don't know. He had been nothing but nice. I think I could even put him in the category of a friend.
So much had happened in such a short time. I hadn't had time to process how I feel about this gorgeous human being. I had heard a lot about him from Violet in the last couple of days.He seemed like a player to me, but I hadn't seen him goofing around with anyone.
I guess I did trust him. I mean this night that I was spending with him was not really by choice but still."I guess, yeah Ash I trust you. what's up?"
"Who did you kill Rose?"
I gasped, his grip tightened around me and he hugged me.
"I am sorry. I shouldn't have asked."
"I-its its o-okay Ash."
I took my Locket out and opened it. I couldn't believe I was just about to tell this almost stranger the thing that had been haunting me for a while now.
"This is Ethan. was. This was Ethan Klutzs. My best friend. He was two years older than me, we came across each other when my mom bought a new house in Florida. He lived right across the street. I was in first grade and he was in third. We went to the t-the same school as well. We were inseparable."
"Everything was absolutely fine until almost a year ago. H-he proposed me and I-I panicked a-and didn't know what to do, so I said yes." Ash's hold tightened around me.
"I was just happy to see him happy, but acting like his girlfriend and kissing him and seeing him look at me in an adoring way made me feel guilty, c-cause Ash I couldn't I just couldn't give him back the love and adoration and happiness he gave me."
"So I did the only decent thing which I should have done a long time ago. I-I broke up with him and Ash he just smiled. He did not shout or cry or even accuse me he just stood there and smiled sadly at me. It broke my heart to see him like that."
"He wiped away my tears and said he had some things to take care of and just left."
"and then when I got home that night, I heard a piece of news. News of an accident. I rushed to the scene. Police were everywhere and Ethan's bike was smashed in a wall."
"They held me back Ash, the police. They didn't let me go to him."
"I cried for them to let go of me a-and, I wanted to hold him but I couldn't even see him."
"His mom was there in the corner, she was a single mom. His father had walked out on him and his mother when he was just a six month old, his parents were never married."
"Later the police told us that he was drunk and driving a bike. It was all my fault. He would never have been on that damned bike if I hadn't broken up with him that day. We were supposed to spend that whole day on the hill and I messed it up."I hadn't realized I was crying. Ash's hold tightened even more.
"It's okay Rosa. It was not your fault. It's okay. Shh shh."
He hugged me.
And just like that, I drifted off to sleep,
sobbing.***
I woke to the voice of shower turning off and Ash stepped out of the bathroom, a towel wrapped around his waist.
"You up sleepy head?" I rubbed the sleep out if my eyes.
"Mmhm" I mumbled yawning.
He chuckled.
"Go ahead the shower is yours and Ness left you some clothes but she had to leave," he said pointing towards the bathroom.
"Ohh also I stole a pair of hightops from her room. So you're welcome." with that he left the room.
I smiled as he left the room and went to take that shower, it felt like a weight was off my shoulders.
Hey peeps, so now you know Rose's past. Do you think she was to blame? Is there more to her?
