My phone pinged and I checked the message and visibly flinched.
Unknown no.- You still want your best friend alive?

Unknown no.- Oh dear, I have nothing against you. You are just a pawn in my plan.

My texts might look calm and sensible but I was in a flurry of darkness and fear and anger on the inside.
That's when my phone started ringing. An unknown number.
I picked up. Ash looked at me, paying attention to my face, which I quickly tried to compose.
"Rose!" hearing his voice I lost all the leftover common-sense in me.
"ETHAN! ETHAN" I cried as everyone looked at me.
"Rose Don't come here. Don't..." there was a sound of someone getting punched and Ethan's voice faded.
"Nooooo don't you dare lay a hand on him you bastard. What do you want? Anything!! I will give you anything." But the phone disconnected with that.
Everyone was looking at me and I noticed that Ash had me wrapped in his arms though I couldn't feel anything, I felt numb and unable to function.
"I-I have to go." I got up with that and started moving towards the exit.
We were still at Starbucks and after we were back from the washroom I had taken the outer most seat in this cramped booth.
Before I could move too far Ash grabbed hold of my hand and everyone shifted in their seats too.
"What happened?" he asked me.
My brain couldn't function enough to contemplate if I should tell him or anyone something or not.
"I-I have to go!" I repeated more to myself than anyone.
Sofia stood up. "And I will go with you." determination leaking from her voice like sand from hand. 'My sweet Sofia,' one thing that I was absolutely sure about was the fact that none of my friends were getting in the line of fire because of me.
"Nooo, you are not coming anywhere with me Sofia. You are NOT putting yourself in any danger." I said sternly. I was not gonna lose her at any cost.
"Neither are you!" Ash growled getting up and looking at me fiercely.
"It's none of your business, don't do this Ash!" I said trying to be as intimidating as him and failing very badly as I was already on the verge of hysteria.
"You are my girlfriend, so it is my business Rosa," he said putting a hand on my cheek.
"Please don't Ash, I can't lose anyone ever again." my voice betrayed me and cracked as I spoke the last words.
"And you think we are ready to lose you." Mason's angry voice resounded in our booth.
I looked back to see him standing up and his donut crushed in his hand.
