[Tin x Can] If Only I Could Trust

Chapter 14: Part 1

I watched Can being walked towards me, his blindfold on as instructed. I took a moment to imagine what he might look like coming down the aisle to marry me. My heart began its usual response thump thump. He was so cute and good-looking in the clothing that I picked for him that I wanted to take it off then and there and find somewhere to lay him down and make love to him. I squelched my usual urges. That would come later on tonight. 

A few more steps and Can would be right next to me. Pulling the small silk covered box from my pocket, I knelt down on one knee. I nodded to them to remove the blindfold from his eyes. Immediately he squinted, trying to adjust to the sun but then it was replaced by awe. His lips were agape but he wasn't making any noise as he took in his surroundings. I had made Can speechless.

After what seemed like forever, his eyes finally made it down to me. I took one of his hands in mine and kissed it. His eyes widened because this usually wasn't in my character to do. I was feeling so much love for Can these past few days. Anyone who was willing to deal with so much, to leave all things for me, was definitely worth my time forever.

'Can... Cantaloupe. Thank you for being with me and showing me what love is. When I first laid eyes on you, I was angry and didn't know how to be a proper human being. You showed me that I had a chance to have a happier life. That if only I could trust, I could find love. And I found it with you. You've given up everything for me, more than I should have asked for. More than I deserved. I don't have much anymore, but the only thing that will make up for it is you. That being said, I love you more than I can express Can. Please, marry me?' I released his hand and opened the small box, showing the engagement rings.

An unreadable expression swept his face before he pulled me up and into his arms for a hug. I chuckled at the tightness of it. I almost had trouble breathing. His shoulders were shaking and he began sobbing. I looked down and tilted his head up. 

'I need an answer Can.' My heart began skipping a beat out of fear that he would say no.

'Y-yes!' His face was less than attractive with tears and a runny nose. He scrunched it up so tight but that was Can. My Cantaloupe. 

I pulled out my handkerchief and wiped his face clean. Bending down I kissed him slowly, passionately, conveying all of my feelings for him at that moment. It left us both breathless. Afterward, I slipped the ring out of the box and on to his finger. He was still crying just as hard when he took the ring for me and put it on mine.

'I love you Tin! I really love you.' He blurted out.

'I love you more.'

Can didn't stop crying for hours afterward. He could barely eat the meal I had prepared for us at the hotel because he choked a few times. I didn't understand why he was so upset. After lunch I took him on a carriage ride around the city. He sat next to me sniffling the whole way. I had pulled him to me tightly but it didn't change his whimpering. I was starting to feel that I had done the wrong thing by asking him to marry me.

'Can, stop it now. Haven't you cried enough already?' My tone was harsh but I was truly concerned.

'I.can't.help.it.' He took a breath after every word.

'Tell me what has you like this?'

'My mom. My sister. I miss them. They won't see me get married...' He cried harder. 'I miss them already Tin. I miss my friends too.'

'I'm sorry Can, I can take you home any time. Remember that. It's just harder to be together there. I don't want you to be like this every day because of me.' 

His tears suddenly stopped.

'Don't think of it. It's normal to grieve. I'll be ok after this. I promise. I promise Tin. I can't be without you.' He looked me in the eyes, more scared that I will have to leave him. I smiled and wiped his tears away yet again. 

'Anything you want I'll do.' This is the extent of my love for you. 

'Never leave me.' I nodded at him and he quieted down. 

'Since you ruined the beautiful day I planned for us with your incessant crying, you owe me. I took you for a ride, now give me one.' Can laughed and without hesitation immediately climbed on my lap. 

After an hour we returned back but before we made it to our room, I recognized a familiar face. What was my brother's ex doing here? He looked stressed as he chewed on his fingernails. 

'Hin?' He snapped his head up and walked quickly to us both.

'I needed to see you. It's an emergency.' Can looked at him oddly when he touched my sleeve. So as not to cause problems I shook it off. We weren't close anyway. 'It's about Tul.'

I felt Can immediately stiffen next to me. Looking down at him I gave him the key card, reassuring him with my eyes. 'Go to the room. I'll be there soon.'

'Tin...'.  He was very reluctant to leave.

'I said go Can. I don't want to have to say it again.' I didn't mean to sound as harsh as I did but hearing my brother's name made me angry and I couldn't contain it. The look of hurt on his face etched in my brain as he did what I said. I'll make it up to him. My hardened face stared at my brother's ex-boyfriend. 'You have 20 seconds.'

'Tul called me, he knows you are here. I didn't tell him or confirm it as you asked of me. No matter what I said he doesn't believe me. He said he was coming to London with your parents and you had run away with a lot of their money. I denied the truth again and he told me...he told me someone confirmed you were in my shop. I tried to track you down sooner.'

'I can't get one break from this mess. When did he say he was coming?' 

'Two weeks.'

'My plans just got moved up significantly then. Don't come here anymore but I'll find a way to keep in touch with you.'

I turned away and stormed towards the elevator. No matter where I was in the world, he always ruined my life somehow. This time he wasn't making me afraid or stopping me from obtaining the one thing I wanted the most. I was going to marry Can even if that was the last thing I could do.
