"I'M GOING TO DIE!!!"
After Jerry and Benton left I decided to go find the other student I would be working with. I thought Benton said he was in exam four so I decided to ask a nurse where it was. Her name was Carol and she was really nice. She said that it was across of the elevators. I walked through the halls when I heard someone scream. I looked through the window but a curtain blocked my view. The screaming became louder as I walked closer. I saw a brown door with four on it and I quickly walked inside. I went to the curtain and pushed it away.
A young girl was screaming while a doctor was stichting up her arm. He had brown hair and deep brown eyes. The girl continued screaming. I have to admit, it was a big cut.
'Please, Jane, calm down! Everything is fine.' The doctor said.
'I'M GOING TO DIE!!!' The girl screamed. The guy wasn't even half way done. What a mess.
'Do you need some help?' I asked still standing there looking at the scene.
'Yes, plea-.' He said and he stopped and looked at me.
'THIS IS THE END!' The girl shouted with despair in her voice. The doctors brown eyes were glued to mine and I smiled at him not knowing what to do. 'Uh... I meant-..uh yes, please.' He stumbled.
'I'll calm her down.' I told him calmly and I walked up to the woman.
'Hello Jane, right?' I asked and I looked at the student, he nodded in agreement. 'Help mee!' She yelled like she didn't see me.
'You're going to be fine.' I continued but that didn't seem to calm her down much. She glanced over at her arm and she started to cry. 'Okay, look at me.' I said calmly and she did. 'Wow, you have a really pretty necklace.' I said as I noticed it around her neck. It was gold with a deep blue stone.
'My mom... she gave it ... to me.' She sobbed. 'It must be super old.' I said. 'Yes, my mommy's mom bought it for her.' She told me and she wiped her tears from her cheeks.
'All done.' The doctor said and the girl looked at her arm.
'I made such a fool out of myself.' She giggled when she finally calmed down. She looked at her arm again and a small smile appeared on her face when she saw that it was fine.
'No you didn't.' I replied. 'I've seen way worse.' I smiled. Remembering when my brother Ollie screamed so loud the whole neighborhood woke up. Only because he had a small cut on his finger. Mom was really pissed but they made up pretty quickly with ice cream.
'Thank you doctor Carter.' Jane said and she hopped off the bed.
'You're welcome.' He replied as he took off his gloves. His mom ran inside with a teddy bear which was for Jane, I think. 'We're already done, she was very strong.' He said to the mother and I smiled. Docter Carter gave the mother the medicine for the pain and gave a few other instructions. After that they said goodbye to him and they left.
'I didn't catch your name.' He said as he walked a bit closer to me.
'I'm Valerie Brooke. I'm starting my ER rotation today. What's your name?' I said.
'John Carter.' He answered.
'My resident is doctor Benton, he told me that you could show me around. That's why I came in, in the first place.' I rambled and he grew a big smile on his face. 'You're the new attending?' He asked.
'Yes.' I responded.
'So, where both students of Benton?' he asked and I nodded. 'Well...that's uh, that's great.' He said while he scratched the back of his neck.
'I hope so.' I said looking down at the ground smiling. 'I guess, I'll show you around?' He asked. 'That's sounds great.' I answered. this might be better than I thought it would be.
