"Hey, sleeping beauty"

This night sift was the most boring one I have ever done. No one came in because of this huge snow storm. Only one drunk but he was in here before and he could go when he woke up. Jerry was hanging up Christmas decorations and Ross was playing with an basketball bouncing it up and down around admin. Lydia was reading a magazine next to me.

'Come on Jerry let's play a game.' Ross said as he bounced it down and catched it again. 'Alright, let's do it.' He said with a little too much attitude. I just rolled my eyes and continued focusing on the files before me.

'21, headache.....IV drip.' I mumbled to myself as I wrote down the symptoms and treatment of my patient. I glanced back at my note cards and back at the chart. 'I've never seen you so focused on paper work.' I heard a voice say and when I looked up I saw Carol standing before me. She was resting her face on her hands and her elbows on the desk with a huge smile on her face.

'How are you doing on this lovely evening.' I said to her sarcastically while I continued writing. 'Bored.' She said and she sighed. 'Same here –' BAM. We all quickly looked up at what happened when we saw that Jerry fell into the newly set up Christmas tree. Lydia stood up shaking her head. 'Men.' She mumbled.

'I'm okay!' I heard Jerry yell when I saw Mark walking out of exam 1. 'Clean that up please.' He said annoyed when he saw all the decorations on the floor. I guess he wasn't having a great day since what happened this afternoon with John. Doug was holding back his laughter at the state Jerry was in. The big guy stood up and rubbed his coat clean even though there was nothing on there.

'Anywaaay,' Carol said dragging out the a. 'I'm going to go back to work.' She said.

'Sure, good luck.' I said as I wrote down the next patient. '32, male...hart' I mumbled again. A few minutes went by when all of the sudden all the Christmas lights went on. I heard "ooh" and "ahh" 's all around. The room was beautifully lit with lights hanging form the ceiling everywhere.

'Great job.' I heard Mark say and Jerry grin became bigger by the second. 'Yeah, it looks amazing.' I added as Lydia nodded in agreement.

'County General... C- ome .. in ..' We heard a man say. Lydia rushed to the radio and grabbed the speaker. 'County General here, Over.' She said as clearly as she could. 'This is 47, we have a hypothermic man coming your way in two minutes, Over.' We heard the paramedic finally loud and clear. 'Great, we'll stand by. Over.' Lydia answered.

'You know the drill.' She continued and Lydia walked to trauma one. 'Go get Carter and Carol.' Doctor Green said to me as he walked through the doors, into the snow storm.

I walked to the drunk patient to see if Carol was there but I found the man snoring alone. As I walked out of exam room 1, I bumped into Connie. 'Have you seen Carol or John?' I asked. 'Carol and Doug went to x-ray.' She said and I frowned. Why would they go there?

'Thank you.' I said as I hurried to x-ray. I walked past the trauma 1 and 2 when I saw John sleeping in the suture room. I opened the door and turned on the lights.

'Hey, sleeping beauty.' I said jokingly and he lifted his head, his hair sticking up in weird places.

'Wait, what...what is going on?' He asked his voice hoarse from the sleep. 'Man with hypothermia coming in.' I said and he sighed.

'What time is it?' He asked blinking a few times. 'I don't know, around 1:00 a.m.' I said and frowned. 'Okay, give me two minutes.' He replied and I quickly went back to finding Carol.

I walked up to the x-ray room and grabbed the door knob. I turned it around but discovered it was locked. 'Hello?' I yelled as I knocked on the door. I walked to the other side of the wall where another door was. The door swung open and I saw Carol and Doug putting on their clothes in panic. I was shocked and I quickly looked at my feet to hopefully not get a glimpse of anything. I heard some swearing words on both their ends.
