⋆Part 18: Pulling you closer⋆

"Woah"

I ran trough the living room after Carol hung up the phone. I knew John had a night sift tonight and it's only one am. I quickly put on some jeans and a sweater. I don't even know which one because it was so dark.

God, Val what are you getting yourself into?

I put my hair in a bun and quickly grabbed my warm coat and keys. Oh wait, Ollie. I grabbed a pen and paper. "I'll be back in the morning. Wish me luck! ;)" I wrote.

It took a deep breath and I left my apartment. I ran down the stairs, walked through the door onto the street. The icy snow slowly fell down from the clouds. I went into my car because taking the L this late might not be the best idea. I opened the door and turned the engine on.

a song I didn't know played in the background and the adrenaline rushed through me. My insecure thoughts came back a few times while driving but I ignored them. "Take a chance" I kept repeating in my head. If you don't do this now, you never will.

I arrived at the deserted parking lot, that was usually the case this late at night. I ran towards the stairs not knowing where my feet might take me. "What are you going to say?" My subconscious asked.

I'll figure it out... later.

The wind pushed the snow inside as the doors opened for me. I went inside and I quickly looked around. I turned right into the lounge, empty.

What if he had already left? No, he couldn't have.

'Valerie?' I heard Susan say but I ignored her. I will explain later.

I practically ran into trauma one but I couldn't find him there either. My heart started to race. He left, didn't he? He hates me and he'll never talk to me again. I lost him. I fucked up. My breathing sped up as I went into trauma 2. Not there either...

Wasn't this suppose to be that epic moment? That moment in the movies when they finally tell each other. I thought that fate would take care of it. I went back to the front desk. Damn I'm so stupid- I suddenly bumped into someone.

Paper work flew around us and I looked into the familiar brown eyes that I adore so much. 'John.' I mumbled letting out a breath that I didn't know I was holding. 'Val, are you okay?' He asked as he saw the tears in my eyes and I nodded. Maybe fate was on my side after all. His hands grabbed mine which made my whole body shiver. He smiled at me and I smiled back.

'What- why?'

'I think I love you.' I cut him off and his face expression fade away. Tears streamed down my red cheeks and a smirk appeared on his face. 'I-' He said but I cut him off again by pressing my lips against his.

My stomach exploded with butterflies as I felt his arms wrap around my waist pulling me closer.

I surrender completely.

My hands went into his hair. God, this is the best feeling in the word. I pulled back for air but his face stayed close to mine. I felt his minty breath on my skin. 'Woah.' I heard him whisper and I chuckled. 'You kissed me back?' I asked a bit surprised. I sort of still expected him to hate me.

'I think I love you, Val.' He said.

'You do?' I said and he responded by quickly kissing me again.

'I will keep asking if you keep kissing me like that.' I said feeling very confident, I liked this. 'You don't have to ask for me to kiss you.' He said and laughed.

'This better not interfere with your work.' A deep voice behind me said and I quickly turned around. Benton...

'Of course.' We said at the same time and I quickly looked at John. He looked so perfect, his hair was a bit messy but I guess that was my fault. We both watched Benton walk to the front desk.

'What now?' He asked and I shrugged my shoulders. 'You want to get out of here? Maybe we could go to Doc Magoo's?' I asked and he looked at the clock. 'My sift doesn't end until two.' He said and I followed his glance, 01:30 am. 'I can wait.' I said and he smiled.

'That's great. Maybe we can go to my place.' He said and he leaned in and pressed his lips against mine. I hope this feeling never goes away.

'Good idea.' I mumbled and he walked to away to see his patient.

AAH this is the chapter I've been waiting to write for so long!! This idea popped into my head which made me write this story. I've really grown to love writing it. I think I'm going to write one more chapter and that will be the end. After that I will be editing the story and changing and adding some moments in the story. I hope you have an amazing day!
