The next day;

Sitting on this hard examination table at the doctors, I swung my legs almost impatiently back and forth. My head was deep into my phone as I texted Toni. He and I were trying to agree on what outfit Dana should wear on her first day of school that was only a day away.

I smiled at a random picture of Dana he had sent me and I saw the happiness radiating through the smile she wore. I almost get into tears whenever I think about how fast she's grown so far. She's very sweet, goofy and the more she grows, the more I see how wonderful of a person she'll turn out to be.

Before I could even respond to the picture he sent me, he called.

I stared at the old picture of us together as his contact photo that popped up. His face close to mines and the fact that I remember that this picture was from the rare times we were actually happy together. Had some good sex during that time too. I guess after that all died down, it was still too hard for us to drag ourselves back to why we started loving each other in the first place.

I fluttered my eyes a bit and then, I pressed answer.

I gently placed the phone against my ear. "Hello?"

"Hey, Cheryl..." He responded in what sounded like hesitation.

"How are you? We were just texting. Is there something you need to say that doesn't require texting?" I asked of him.

There was a pause. "I'm good and uhm, yeah. I mean, we know which outfit she's gonna wear...."

"Yes, we did," I told him as I nodded my head and looked around the room in confusion.

"I just wanted to call and see if you saw me call you last night?" He asked. He finally allowed the awkwardness to leave.

"Uhhh...no. I was probably asleep. I'm sorry," I said as I started to feel kinda bad that he hadn't had the chance to speak with me last night. "Did something happened to the kids?" I added.

"No. I just wanna know if I could call you later, maybe?"

"What does it concern?" I asked him finally.

"It's about—"

Before he could finally his sentence, the doctor came in. I immediately waved and smiled at her. "Uh, tonight. Fine. Just call me but not too late, please. Talk to you later....uh huh, bye." I said as I then ended the call.

"Hi Cheryl!" Doctor Tina said as she hugged me with open arms. I've known her for quite a while. Not only did she deliver Caiya and Ciyle but she's always checking on me whenever she wants to know updates. The updates kinda fell off but her genuine love is Devine.

"Hi Dr. Tina!" I said as we both tightly hugged each other.

"Seems like I haven't seen you in forever," she said as she let me go and smiled at me.

"I know, I know. But it hasn't been that long," I said as I smiled a big smile.

"You're right, you're right. Anyways, I got super excited when I saw that I had you today! And I—" she said as she looked around the room and behind her. "Where's hubby?" She asked me.
