SHEMAR's POINT OF VIEW

Opening the back door that lead out into the backyard, I stuck my head out and saw Ciyle preparing himself to jump off the diving board.

"Ciyle, you hungry?" I asked him as I then pulled my entire body out of the house and closed the door behind me.

He looked over at me and shook his head. "Is my mom back yet?" He asked me. I shook my head at him and sat down in a chair by the pool.

"Not yet. She left out to grab some stuff but come here..." I told him.

I then watched as he jumped off the diving board and into the pool. Next, I watched him swim over towards me. I waited until he presented himself for us to have a conversation.

Seconds later, he picked his head up out of the water and pulled himself out of the water as he held onto the very edge of the pool.

As he got out, I then stood up and took place in front of him. I wanted to talk to him face to face.

"I'm out..." he said as he wiped the very sides of his face and tried to get the water off.

"So, I wanted to talk to you about what you said to me last night," I brought up as I stared at him.

"What was that?" He asked.

"Your dad really doesn't like me?" I asked him as I folded my arms across my chest and cleared my throat a bit.

Ciyle nodded his head. "I mean, he didn't necessary say it but he just always shows it. Like, when he dropped me off last night- he just didn't want me to really talk to you like that. About our business but the thing is- we don't have any business. So, I was confused," he explained to me.

Standing there, I nodded my head and took a deep breath as I processed what he said.

"Well," I said as I placed one of my hands on his shoulder. "Just because your dad doesn't like me- that doesn't mean that you have to not like me too. What's between your dad and I- doesn't apply to you. If anything, I wanna treat you like my own, C. I've always been there and around all of you as you were a baby, right?"

"Right. Yes, sir..." he answered.

"And you can trust me, right?"

"Yes, sir. I can,"

"Good. So, trust me when I say this...I got you, okay?" I told him straight up.

"Yes, sir..." he said to me as he gently smiled at me.

I smiled back and patted his shoulder. "Aight, man. Go back to swimming but don't be out here too long, aight?" I told him.

"I won't be," he said with a small laugh as he then stepped away from me and jumped into the pool again.

Shaking my head as I watched him swim away, I then heard the door behind me open. I turned to see who it was...
