A/N: IM BACK

———

For all of Maki's life, she had nobody by her side. Nobody to talk to, nobody to gossip to, nobody to be normal friends with.
Instead, she had a gun and several bruises all over her body.
Why?
Well, of course it was because of training. You haven't played the whole game, have you? Go play it, nerd.

For the entirety of Maki's life, she didn't have anyone but herself. She'd much rather keep it like that, if she hadn't been put into this killing game. That was how she was raised.
Quick to suspect anyone, quick to slaughter any person that comes in her way. What she was, was not human.

What was she again?

Ah, right. An assassin. A tool. Something that was only meant to be used, something that wasn't meant for something like getting along with people. A tool is only used to be of help to its owner. Nothing else.

If a tool wasn't supposed to feel, what's this feeling blossoming in this assassin's chest?

Every day, every night, maybe every second... He was always there.
Knock, knock. She's memorized his knocking pattern by now.
Two times, it's always two times. And she would never answer. Why?
Why won't he just go away?
More knocks in the same order.
Simple, it's because;
So annoying.
She doesn't want him to leave.

Want? What is there to want? Maki's never wanted anything in her life, that was selfish.
So why does she want this spacey cowboy idiot to stick around? Why does she feel so attracted to him?
Maybe it's just because he acts like that one nice kid from the orphanage. Maybe because he is that one nice kid from the orphanage.

"Say something."

Her instructors words burned in her head as she said the words. That terrible instructor who gave her all those bruises. The bruises that still fail to go away when she stares at herself in the mirror. Static sounded in her head; the loud, ear-piercing music of silence. The brown-haired girl could see people's mouths moving. She could feel hands pat her back.
What she couldn't feel was Kaito's heartbeat.

I should be used to death by now. Maki felt her eyes sting with unwanted tears, staring at Kaito's bloody, unmoving face. So why... Why does it hurt so much? Why do I hurt so much?

Maki stood up, her knuckles turning white as she dug her nails into her palm. Tears streamed down her face as she looked up to make eye contact with Shuichi, as if she were glaring at him, as if this was all his fault.

"A body has been discovered!!... Ah, well, I guess you all are already there. Still, Dead bodies are still dead bodies and even they need to be announced!" Monokuma's voice echoed from the entrance of the hangar.

Everyone whipped around to face him, glaring at him as he laughed, tears would be streaming down his face if he had tear ducts.
"Ahahahahaha!" The Bear cackled. "Oh, what did I say?! Kaito could meet a terrible demise if you even thought about saving him from his kidnapping!" He exclaimed, laughing again for a few more moments.
"And what did you do?!" Monokuma's voice then got rough from anger, throwing his paws in the air. "You went and got him anyway!! Gosh, kids these days never listen to their parents! Look, you even destroyed my damn existals! Grrr, you'll pay for this, angsty teens!!"

Monotaro's head was the last one to pop out from his existal. He dizzily jumped down from the somehow still standing existal and wobbled over to his siblings, who were by his father.
"Aaah..." He whined, wiping his eyes.
"That was tough! I don't think I've had such a fight in my life!"
