A/N: suicide mention near the end

________________________________________________________________________________

The morning announcement went off. All of the monokubs were present, including Monokid. All of them seemed unusually happy, as if something good is gonna come up.

Shuichi felt like some of them should have died during the executions. They obviously didn't, which meant he had to deal with a total of 6 annoying bears. Probably even 7, including mother kuma. But he didn't know anything about that, and he wouldn't go prying anytime soon.

On a sadder note, Shuichi hasn't left his room in days... Actually, he has. But that's only to get food in the middle of the night and to open the door to a different classmate bringing him food.

Tsumugi usually came over with snacks and tea, but Shuichi knew that she was only trying to calm him down from the fact that he wasn't real.

Kaito also came by to check on him and attempt to invite him to train with Tenko, but he always declined for obvious reasons. Obvious reasons that's not obvious to you, that is.

The time went slower than usual, and there's only one reason for that.

He hasn't seen Kokichi in a while.

Shuichi felt himself frown, feelings piercing straight to his heart: both good and bad. Mostly bad. He remembered how Kokichi was fictional also, every single aspect of him. To his smile, his curls, his shape, his eyes... How could Tsumugi make someone so damn perfect? She must be a god at creating stories.

'I'm not supposed to be loathing Tsumugi right now!' Shuichi thought, clenching his fists to stop his instinct of reaching to his head to pull down his hat. He's forgotten about that habit... Maybe he should start to wear the hat again. Maybe that will make him feel better.

The detective shook his head, reaching for hit hat. He picked it up, tracing the brim of the front gently with his finger.

I've come so far, only to retreat back into the darkness again... Haha, how sad.. He barely kept up a smile to himself.

Kaede would be so disappointed.

After a while of silence, she heard a knock at the door. Shuichi sighed, not looking away from his old hat. "For the last time, Kaito. I'm not going to train with you, I'm just not in the mood for I—"

Suddenly, the door burst down. Literally burst down. It was on the floor.

Shuichi yelped, clutching his hat close to him and jerked away from the noise, now fully alert and thought roaming through his head.

Except, a crazy psycho murderer wasn't at his door frame. It was Tenko. She looked surprised, mostly because of how messy his room is.

"Shuichi!" Tenko yelled, running over to the detective and grabbing his arm, pulling him off of the bed and forcing him to stand up. He stumbled and almost fell over, of course.

"Where have you been all this time? Everyone's been worried sick! Especially Kaito. He's been rambling on about you every second, which makes me want to kick his skull to the moon!" She ranted, then shut up for a moment.

".... But not because he's a degenerate male. Just because he's an annoying friend..."

Shuichi kept his eyes on the floor. "Let me go. I don't want to go anywhere, and I don't want to see anyone." He snapped, putting on his hat and adjusting it. "I don't care what they think of me anymore... Pick someone else as the leader, I just can't do it anymore..."

"What?" Tenko's voice of surprise made Shuichi flinch. "Are you out of your mind? What's been up with you lately?"

Tenko put a hand on the navy-haired boy's shoulder gently. "Are you oka—"
