Chapter 15: Fighting Mask

Bobble stepped in front of her mirror and looked at herself. Kyubey watched as she continued to stand there before hitting her cheeks twice and continue to look. "Are you nervous?" He asked the female as she replied "A little, one mistake and it's goodbye me." She had Kyubey get on her shoulder as she left her room and called out "I'm going out!" "Just be back before curfew!" Her mom called back. "I'll try!" and with that, she left the apartment.

Bobble walked out of the building and noticed a person's head jerk up from the corner of her eye. She looked over as asked "Goggles?" He got off the wall and stood in front of her. "Bobble, are you... going?" He asked in a quiet voice. "Yep! Time to patrol for wicked witches. It's my duty, now that I'm an ally of justice." "Are you okay by yourself?" Goggles asked her, worried. "Oh, I'll be fine. Specs worked alone too. And if he can do it then so can I!" She said in a proud type of voice. This caught the male squid of guard and make him nervous. "Um, I know I don't have any powers and I'll probably just end up getting in the way but if..." He dropped his bag which seemed to have a Sakura flower charm as the zipper. "If you don't mind having me around, I'd like to come with you. At least as far as you can take me." "You're so stubborn," Bobble told him with her smile. "Sorry, it's a lot to ask but I figured I'd give it a shot." He told her with a bit of disappointment in his voice.

That's when Bobble went over and grabbed his hands. "No, I'm happy you did!" The boy gasped as he realized why, her hands were shaking. "You feel that? My hands are shaking, they haven't stopped this whole time. Isn't that pathetic? Even though I'm a magical squid, the thought of going alone is kinda scary." "Bobble..." "I want you to come and keep me happy! I already feel way braver now knowing you're gonna be with me, I can beat up 100 bad guys now!" "But what if...?" Goggles started but was interrupted by Bobble. " I'll keep you safe. Just follow my lead and you'll be okay, I promise." The female let go of his hands and put hers on his shoulder. "Ready to go hunt some witches now, just like we used to!" The boy nodded as Kyubey jumped in. "You know this is going to be dangerous right?"

They were now walking down a path while Bobble explained something to Kyubey. "You know how I am, if I went alone I'd be reckless and get myself killed but if Goggles was there I won't act stupid. I'll think about what I'm doing and be more focused, you see?" "Hmmm. Well, as long as you thought it through." Kyubey said as Goggles quietly said "Kyubey...." That's when the space ferret turned around and sent a message to the boy through telepathy. 'You thought this through as well, haven't you Goggles? I know how much you want to protect Bobble. I think it's good your coming along with us. That way, if we find ourselves in a bad spot you'll be our trump card.'

The group was now getting further into the city as the scenery changed. 'But I...' 'You don't have to decide now and I'm sure Bobble will be against it. But if you ever do decide on something to wish for, remember, I'll always be ready to grant it for you.' Kyubey told Goggles. He was silent for a few blocks until replying with 'Okay...' while Bobble continued to look for a witch.

Bobble came across an alleyway that had strong pulses of magic. "This is it." She said as the scenery changed. "This labyrinth is probably the creation of a familiar, not a witch." The space ferret pointed out. "I should still be careful though. After all, I'm still new at this."

They walked down some stairs, going further in the labyrinth. "Keep your guard up," Kyubey warned. "Roger that," Bobble replied as she held her soul gem. They heard a noise not long after. They took a look at the wall and saw the familiar. It was in a plane as it flew past them. "There it is!" The female exclaimed. "What do we do?" "I got it."

Bobble then held out her soul gem in front of her. She glowed a bright blue color as her outfit appeared, she pointed her sword in front of her as she finished. The female then twirled into her cape and as she got out there we're swords in the floor around her. She threw them at the familiar, just missing every time until she blocked it in on both sides. The blue female threw her swords only for them to be blocked by a spear. This gave the familiar time to get away as a magical squid in red landed on one of the blocked swords before it disappeared. "Hang on a sec, what do you think you're doing? Playing tag?"
