Chaper 6: Witch hunt

Soon classes ended with the two inklings getting their stuff out of their lockers. They decided to got talk to Prince after what happened that morning. "Prince! Hey, we sorta have a couple errands to run so...." Bobble said as she trailed off. "Oh, something private?" Prince asked. "Well..." "I'm so jealous! I guess it's true how they say two's company and three's a crowd!" Prince yelled while running away. "You got it all wrong again," Bobble said quietly. Rider silently watched from around the corner. "Mr. Akemi?" A classmate said. "We're going for coffee after school, wanna come with us?" Another asked. "Not today, I've got some stuff to do. I'm sorry" He replied in an apologetic voice before walking away, leaving his disappointed classmates standing by the door.

Goggles and Bobble were at a cafe with Specs. Specs set down his drink before talking "Well, time to start lesson one of the magical squid experience. That's what I like to call it anyway. I hope you're ready." He said looking at the two other squids. "I don't know if it will make a difference but I brought this," Bobble said before uncovering a bat she was carrying. "I mean it's better than not having anything right?" "Let's say I'm glad with that spirit..." "How about you? What did you bring?" The female squid asked looking at Goggles. "Nothing, just this." He replied before taking out his notebook and showing them what he drew during class. The two other squids looked at it in amazement. "I sorta thought it would be good to have some costume ideas, just in case." Goggles told them as they started laughing a bit. He then looked down, blushing from embarrassment. "You certainly have the right spirit." Specs told him. "That's so awesome! I can't top that!" Bobble in between laughs. Goggles kept looking down in embarrassment as he heard the other two continued to laugh.

"It senses the magic residue of the witch we saw yesterday. When we hunt, we have to scour the city by foot. Once your soul gem picks up the trail, follow it until you find the witch." Specs explained as they were in the same area as yesterday. "Really? That's it huh." Bobble replied. They had started walking and had been walking for a few hours before Bobble said "what now? Your gem's not glowing any brighter." "That's because it's been a whole day since the witch escaped. The trail has almost faded away." "Then, if you'd gone after it right away last night..." Goggles started but trailed off. "I might've been able to finish it off but I would've had to leave you two alone and I didn't want to risk it." "I'm sorry...." "It's fine." Specs assured Goggles. "Yep, you really are an ally of justice Specs! Not like that psycho, what's his deal anyway. He really pisses me off." Bobble said as Goggles thought back to how Rider looked at him after he asked what he wished for. 'I wonder... is he really a bad person.'

A business woman was walking towards an abandoned building and continued until she was in. "Hey Specs, when you're tracking a witch, do you look anyplace special for them?" Bobble asked. "Sometimes you'll find traces of witch auras around fatal car crashes, so I check streets with heavy traffic. Then the red light district, where fights usually break out. Also, I check places where people go to commit suicide." Specs said with a serious voice. The same woman from before was now climbing up the stairs of the building. "Then I check the hospitals, the worst place for a witch to hide, It's unbearable to see them draining the life force from a helpless person whose already weak from illness." Specs continued as his soul gem began to glow brighter. "It's picked up some powerful magic, it's close." The magical squid said as Bobble and Goggles gasped.

The woman was now at the top of the building and looked out over the landscape. The group was now at the building with Specs soul gem glowing brightly. "There's no mistake, it's here!" Specs exclaimed before Bobble yelled, "Look up there!" The woman began to fall as Specs quickly transformed and caught the woman with his ribbons and put her on the ground gently. Her head turned to the side a bit, revealing a red butterfly mark on her neck. "A witch's kiss, I knew it." The magical squid said as Bobble and Goggles ran over. "Is she dead?" "She's okay, she just fainted is all. Let's go."
