Sans's POV

That dream was... weird, where exactly was I? It was completely dark and dense in there... w-was that what was inside the rock?! If so, I ain't opening that anytime soon. Still, who was that in the light? It felt strangely feminine, those eyes... somehow felt very familiar, despite me never seeing them before now.

Guess she can be a real eye-catcher!

Thoroughly spooked out, I head to the kitchen for my favourite drink. Just thinking about that creamy beauty is making me drool with longing. I can already taste it, feel it sliding down my throat with its creamy goodness... hmmm, Ketchup, the heaven on this planet that was created by incredible people.

When I'd found my beauty, I decided to start on the research that had been assigned to me. Carrying the glass box in my arms up the stairs to my room, I noticed that the glow of the runes had died down a bit. The runes, however, still had a slight glow to them... obvious indicator that the magic used is really powerful and raw.

The only magic I know that's as raw as this is "Soul Magic". Allow me to explain, like the scientist I am... Soul magic is a powerful raw magic that, literally, comes from your souls very essence. There are other types of magic that we use, but we'll get back into that subject another time, right now I need to find the meaning behind these runes.

The air is starting to shift slightly, there's a change coming.

Excitement builds in the dark atmosphere.

Her light is starting to glow a bit brighter... she can feel it as well.

She knows.

It doesn't matter, it's only a matter of time before we can get out of here.

Patience is virtue.

Sans's POV

I've been looking at this rock for over an hour now and I've come up with... absolutely nothing. I have no record of these runes and none of the books that I've collected over the years from my dad and further studies, have any helpful notes in them. They all say the same thing, that if it's glowing then soul magic has been used, doesn't matter the shape or object that it's used on.

Sighing in frustration, I decide to leave it for now and come back to this case a little later. Exiting my room, I hear Papyrus in the kitchen with one of his many spaghetti dishes, not that I'm complaining, he's been getting better... but it can get a bit tiring, having the same thing every. single. day.

"Brother! You're just in time for my famous spaghetti that I, The Great Papyrus, have spent the few hours making. " He proudly announces with a dramatic pose and his ever existing smile that practically never leaves his face.

"Heh, thanks bro, I'm sure you did an excellent job as usual." I replied with a good hearted tone in my voice, happy with his normal 'dramatise- everything' attitude.

At least he's happy.

"So how was work today brother? Did anything interesting happen? I heard rumours of an artifact that had been found near Mt. Ebott by scouts. What is it? Have you-" He excitedly rambled, like someone else I know, but before he could go waaaay overboard with the questions... I just had to cut him off.

"Geeze bro! Keep going like that and you'll soon lose a lung"

His reaction to my pun was the same as everytime I made one around him.

"SAAAAAANNNSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! NYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!"

What? I couldn't help myself, you should see his reaction for yourself... I'm sure you'll find it humerus. (Heh heh heh!!!!)

Anyway, then the strangest thing happened, one minute we were laughing and eating and the next Paps just went completely silent and stiff... like when ice water runs down your spine kind of stiff. I could feel a shift in the air around us, something was here, but I couldn't see it... and that made me nervous. I hate having to fight an enemy I can't see, but I'll never admit that out loud... not even to Papyrus.

Sounds cowardice, I know, but the best kept secrets are the ones never shared.

Paps was heading in the direction of our rooms in a very zombie like state, yeah I know... bad time to make a pun, but I couldn't let the moment pass up. Still curious and very worried, I followed closely behind him... only to realise that he was heading straight for my room. Before I knew it, I could see Paps reaching for the stone and that was when I decided to make my move.

Maybe it was a mistake leaving it out the box like that.

I grabbed Paps hand and started to pull him away, but it was like he was glued there by some force and I couldn't snap him out of this weird trance. I tried everything to get him to turn away, but nothing worked... I would have turned to using my magic, but I can't, not on my lil' bro.

"PAPYRUS!!!!! SNAP OUT OF IT MAN!!!! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?!?!?!"

I yelled at the top of my lungs, somehow I managed to wake him from the trance. He blinked a few times before looking down at me in complete confusion.

"S-sans?! Wh-what happened? Why am I in your bedroom?! And why do you look so worn out?"

Papyrus gently asked me while I was still trying to catch my breath and wrap my head around this whole incident. Something was up with that rock and it's starting to affect others in the same area as it. Only one though came to mind in this very moment.

This can't be good.

After catching Paps up on what happened when we went down to the lounge, he explained that everything just suddenly went completely black and that there was a light that he was walking to. He also said that he heard many voices, gruff voices, that were telling him to "break the light".

Completely concerned for my brothers safety, I decided that maybe I should call it early tonight.

Paps couldn't agree more.

So when we both had gone to bed, I made sure that the stone was back in the box before slumping exhaustedly on my bed and almost instantly falling asleep. One thought plagued my mind before I drifted.

What was it in the room with us that started controlling Paps?

A few hours into the night, I felt a presence in my room, at first I brushed it off as me just being tired... until I heard something being opened.

Well I'll be boned!
