Sans's POV
Well, we've been out on this mountain for most of the morning searching for something, practically anything, that could explain the extreme amounts of magic in the air and the ominous feeling we keep getting by just being here.
"How much longer is this going to take?! I'm getting bored!!"
Undyne moaned out of complete boredom and, to be quite frank, I actually agree with her. She literally came along incase we need help defending ourselves against a powerful enemy that might prove to be too much for our small group to handle.
Our group, consisting of Papyrus, Undyne, Alphys and myself as well as three other scientists from the labs who made the discovery of the runes, have been searching non-stop for any, and I mean any evidence that can explain why the magic in the air is so thick.
I've also made a deduction that the higher we go, the thicker the magic becomes... meaning we're getting closer to the source of the magic. Soon enough, Alphys, Undyne and Paps couldn't keep up anymore due to the thickness of the magic in the air... it was almost suffocating.
The three human scientists seemed to be absolutely fine, probably because they no longer used magic anymore and the magic in their blood was worn so thin to the point it no longer existed. Honestly, I'd say they were lucky... they didn't have the same problems as us at this point.
"Hey Sans, is it okay if we head further up so long while you guys regain your strength?"
Markus, one of the human scientists politely requests permission to continue... and since they've made this trip before, I felt that they most likely could make it again without us slowing them down.
"Sure, go ahead... just let us know if there's any danger up ahead. If there is, don't engage... just run straight back. If you're trapped, just radio us and your location... we'll be there in a matter of seconds."
I explained to all three of them, I know they're all grown men, but sometimes you just have to look out for one another. Without anymore words spoken, they left on their way up the path to the top of the mountain.
Be safe you guys, I can't let anyone die.
"Ugg, I feel so gross... I think its got to do with this magic. It makes me feel..."
Undyne complained while looking at herself as if she were covered in some slimy, goopy substance that really smelt and tasted bad.
"Dirty."
I finished for her. Knowing exactly where she's going with this. I felt the same too, heck! I'm pretty sure we all felt the same. This feeling of being in dirty air, it was... disgusting to say the least.
Suddenly, we heard the screams of people. Not thinking twice about it, I immediately teleported to the sound... or at least close enough to where it came from.
There were these black, ink like demonic looking creatures that had no faces but had these big eyes that were soulless voides into absolute nothingness and a mouth that seemed to have endless sets of teeth. They had the three human scientists surrounded, though the men were trying to put up a brave face and look intimidating... these monst- no, I can't call them that... they'll give monsters a bad name. These things were not fased in the slightest, as if they didn't care whether what they were hunting was dangerous or not.. they just wanted to kill it.
Before I could do anything to save my comrades, they suddenly all lifted their heads in one direction... as if a dog whistle was blown, and all bounded in that direction with no mercy. Once all those things were gone, I quickly went to my comrades to check if they weren't hurt, if all limbs were intact... other than their sanity.
