SURPRISE SURPRISE! !!!!!😊😜😝🙆

Toriel's POV

This woman, she seems like she doesn't belong in this era. How strange, it seems like she speaks the old English very fluently which is very weird... because  the last time it was used was quite some time ago.

Looking at this woman's wardrobe, she's wearing a traditional warriors outfit with a loincloth covering her lower part, but has a wrap covering her private sectors and is wearing knee high wrap shoes. Honestly, I've never seen her before in my life... but I can't help this feeling of familiarity, like I had met or known of her before.

"Momma? Are you okay? "

Asriel's voice snaps me awake from my daydreaming. I look down to see him staring at me curiously and worried.

"Yes my child, I was just thinking about something. "

I replied honestly, smiling down at my son.

"Oh okay, although you may wanna turn down the heat... the pie looks like it's about to explode. "

Shocked, I look down and see the pie rising really high. Completely shocked, I turn the heat down before I have to end up cleaning the pie that was supposed to be in our stomachs off the floor and walls.

Sighing in relief, I place the baking container back onto the cold stove. Magic is very useful when it comes to these things, less mess to worry about.

Carrying the pie out the kitchen, I see Frisk on the couch in the living room... guest nowhere in sight. Slightly confused, I place the warm pie on the table.

"Frisk, where's our guest?"

I softly asked her, and she pointed to the guest room. Perhaps the woman was taking a nap? Or getting changed into new clothes? Well... either way, I'm about to find out.

"Hello? May I come in?"

I gently call out, only to be responded to by a slam of the cupboard door. Completely confused, I enter the room only to see her on the floor with her one hand on her chest and on one knee, head bowed... this is..

A bow of respect. But, this is only used for royalty.

"Ummm... what are you doing my child?"

I carefully ask her unmoving form on the carpeted floor. Without moving from her position, she replies in a gentle but stern voice.

"I show you the respect royalty deserves... Those of the Delta Rune are sworn allies of the Life Tree."

When she said that, I swore that that name sounded familiar. However, I just brushed it off for the moment.

"Well, thank you for the respect my child, however, there's a pie inside that is starting to get cold... so if you'd like, please feel free to join us."

She nodded from her position on the floor. Once she stood, she followed me out from the room into the lounge where the smell of the butterscotch and cinnamon pie wafted through the air and made everything smell good.

"Mom! We were waiting for you before we started eating. "

Frisk stated and Asriel nodded his head vividly in agreement. Honestly, I'm so proud of the both of them and now even happier that they live with me after we've all been freed from the Underground.

"Well, you may now enjoy the pie my children... thank you so much for waiting for us, that was very kind of you."

As soon as I said that, they started to cut the pie into equal slices for each of us to eat. Once our guest and I joined them at the table, the questions rose like they always do.

"So, miss..."

Frisk started.

"Kye."

Nodding her head in acknowledgement, she continued.

"Kye, what were you before now?"

She asked carefully before letting Kye answer.

"I was many things. However, from young, I have devoted myself to serving the royals as a bodyguard, assassin, guide and messenger... during the war, I was a warrior of high status and with a reputation to be feared. So, I can't really answer your question as you'd most probably like me to, but that's the best I can answer it."

Nodding in approval with her answer, they continued to ask light questions over the course of the desert. However, one thing kept bothering me.

"Kye, what you told me earlier when I came to get you... you mentioned something about the 'Life Tree'. Pardon my curiosity, but who were they? Honestly it sounds all so familiar, but I can't quite recall where I've heard that name before."

Looking at her, she sets her cutlery down gently before closing her beautiful aqua-blue eyes... as if she's reminiscing the good old days.

"The 'Life Tree', is an ancient kingdom where everyone was treated equally... with either them being monsters, humans or even half breeds. However, the rulers of the kingdom were kept secret to the rest of the world as there were those who did not believe in the peaceful lifestyle that the kingdom portrayed."

When she finished, Frisk and Asriel were very interested in the story.

"Please tell us more about the kingdom. Were there guards and magic?"

Asriel eagerly asked, like a child deprived of imagination.

"Oh yes, there were guards... only the strongest of the strong could be part of the royal guard due to the heavy burden that was needed to be carried. There was magic too, all the colours and types to exist were there, but the strongest magic to ever exist was light and dark magic... like the power of creation and destruction. However, with this magic, there was always a price when using it... that's why no one else had it, due to its power and thus making it completely rare."

Both Frisk and Asriel were starstruck by her story, however it was getting pretty late and the young ones had a curfew. So with a stern and gentle notification, I ushered them to bed.

"Kye, will you tell us the rest of the story tomorrow?"

Frisk asked softly and Kye gently nodded in reply, small smile on her face and eyes shining with a soft glow.

"Oh! How rude of me! I forgot to introduce myself... my name is Toriel Dreemur my child, I hope you find your stay here to be most pleasant. Sleep well dear!"

I state before heading off to bed myself. As I lay myself on my bed, my mind can't help but wonder about all the things she's told us tonight... the kingdom, the people and the magic. Honestly, I feel like I've always known about light and dark magic... but, I never knew that there were those who actually were able to use it.

Whoever is able to use that kind of magic must be really powerful. Well, save those thoughts for another day, time to rest.
