Book 3} Chapter 20
Alliance
同盟{ What's going on? Is this a trap? }
Gilda held onto me with fear in her eyes until Norman spoke up.
"Guys, it's okay. Let's hear her out," he said."He's right. We should cooperate to achieve our goals," Sister said after him.
"Each of our goals?" I asked her."Yes. You kids want to escape. And I want to become the Mom of this house. I want to drag Isabella down from the Mom position and take her place. What I'm saying is the truth. I want to break free too. From my current situation. Are you aware of the management system of Grace Field House? Girls who fulfill certain conditions and live until 12 years old are presented with two paths when they are about to be shipped. One, to continue as they are and die. Two, to aim to become Mom," Sister told us.
"What are the conditions?" I asked as Gilda moved away from me.
"Scores about a certain number and the Mom's recommendation. If you can meet these two requirements, you can survive without escaping. If you're a girl, at least. But I don't recommend going down that path. They'll make it so you'll never be able to leave this area," she said, showing us her stitches on her lower neck.
"You all still have a chance to run away," she added.
"What is that?" Gilda asked her.
"A chip. If an adult steps one foot outside of the farm. An electrical current will be sent through this and her heart will stop. At the same time, if something else makes her heart stop, it acts as a transmitter that notifies the higher-ups. I can only live on the farms. That's why I want to live in the best way possible here. As a Mom and even if it's fake, to live like a human. Playing house as a mother, surrounded by a warm family, cute children and their adorable love for me," she said with a smile.
Then she narrowed her eyes, "But to get to that, the current Mom, Isabella, is in the way. I want to remove her. If you all escape, she will be blamed. And she'll be gone!" she continued.
"I won't stop you. Escape that will be beneficial to me," she told us.
"You're not going to ship us out? We're the targets," Gilda said warily."I won't. Let's cooperate. We have the same enemy in Mom Isabella. Let's work together to oust her," Sister said.
I feel as if we can trust her. But that decision isn't up to me. I could tell Norman was thinking hard on this.
"Let us join forces~" Sister said, putting her hand out to Norman.
Norman reached his hand out to her, about to shake it.
"Wait!" Emma called out."I agree with Norman's decision. But I want to make sure of something with Sister Krone right now," she said.
"What is it?" Sister asked with a smile.
"Where's the guarantee that you won't betray us?" she asked, her expression serious."Aw, don't you trust me?" Sister asked.
"Just answer!" Emma demanded."Ray. If Ray tells on me to Mom, you can destroy me. But if I tell Mom wjat Ray's really been doing, I can destroy him. That's why neither of us will betray each other. We can't," Sister answered.
"How's that for an answer?" she then asked.
"Okay," Emma said.
"Then it's a deal," Sister said with a smile, shaking Norman's hand."So you were also raised on the farm," Don said.
"Yes. The same Grace Field House. But not here at Plant 3. I'm willing to share any information. Stuff only I can tell you. Proof of goodwill. Why don't you come to my room tonight?" she suggests.Gilda looked nervous, "Ah, don't be frightened, Gilda. I'm not mad at you. In fact, I'm grateful," she told her.
"After all, it was because you two made waves... that I was able to specify the targets. I'll see you later~" she said with a smile, leaving.Gilda covered her mouth and I placed my hand on her shoulder.
"Don't worry about it. This is good. Now we don't have to distract Sister Krone during our inspection. Ray can handle distracting Mom. We can focus solely on the job," Norman said with a smile.Emma was staring down, "Live the "Best way possible" she said. She was one of us too. And yet... she thinks that continuing to watch children get killed... Is the best way to live, That it's a way for humans to live. She really doesn't think anything of the lives of us children," Emma said, gritting her teeth with a n angered expression on her face.
"Yeah. She still plans on shipping us out. But because she doesn't have evidence, authority, and trust she can't get us shipped out right now. So if she gets ahold of one of those things... But this situation is favorable for us. Authority and trust... aren't easy to gain. As long as we don't give her evidence Sister Krone will have no choice but to let us escape," Norman paused.
"We each know what each other's real intentions are. Even if it's just pretend... we'll form an alliance for a while," he finished.
