~ Reader's POV ~

"Let me introduce myself. I'm Emma. What's your name, sir?"
Emma asked with a smile.

"Get out. I don't intend to tell you my name. There's no need for it,"
Our upperclassman said harshly.

I sighed, Chris nuzzled his head in my shoulder, scared of the man.
I pat his head.

"Sit,"
Emma offered.
The man didn't.

"Well, I'll sit. Gilda, can you...?"
Emma called out.

'Oh, okay."
Gilda said.

"How are you feeling?"
Emma asked him.

"Horrible."
He responded.
{ Mood. }

"Sorry for strapping you to the table. And for taking your cookies. You must be hungry,"
She said, holding out the bowl of soup Gilda brought.

"To make up for everything... have some soup for breakfast,"
She offered.

He didn't say anything.
"It's not poisoned. It's good,"
She smiled, taking a sip.

She then gave it to him and he inspected it.
He set it down on the table.

"Oh, but Gilda warmed it up for you,"
Emma said.
"This soup... was made with ingredients we brought. We didn't use any of your food. And we'll continue to secure our own food supplies.
We'll use the least amount of rooms, water and electricity that we can,"
she said.

" "So let's share this shelter"? No freaking way. Get out,"
He said, cold.

"Actually, that's not it. These are formalities. Before we make a deal. Because I know you don't really care... about the supplies being limited and stuff, right?"
Emma said with a smile.

I looked at the man, watching what he would do next.

"I'm going to get right to the point. We're going to go see Mr. Minerva. I want you to be our guide and bodyguard,"
Emma said with a smile.

"Your guide and bodyguard?"
He asked.

Emma shot me a look.
I sighed and walked up with Chris,
Emma took my hand in hers.

Could she feel I was nervous?

"Mister, I know you're strong. For one, you've survived 13 years on your own. And you probably go outside a lot!"
I said with a fake smile.

"Huh? How do you know?"

I grit my teeth, but continued to smile.

"His shoes are worn out. He's got abs. And... There were tree nuts hanging in the pantry. Those aren't available in the garden and can't be grown. They were pretty new.
So, he probably went into the forest and got them,"
I reasoned.

"Near the water?!"
Thoma and Lanni exclaimed.

They were probably remembering what Sonju said.
It was a dangerous area... there could be demon nests.
