Happily Ever After

chapter 5

Christina's POV

    We- Zeke, his parents, Shauna, Tris, Four, and I- are now in the medical room where Uriah will be unplugged from his heart monitor.  Keeping my dare, I start laughing my butt off while they get ready to start the procedure.  I get a few side glances from the doctor and Zeke's parents.  This goes on until the doctor says that it is time to say goodbye.  Once everyone else finishes crying and acting depressed, I walk over to his bed, lean toward him, and kiss him passionately on the lips.  It felt like the first time I ever kissed Will.  Something weird happened, though.  Strangely, I felt Uriah kissing back.  Although it is unusual, I don't care.  I stroke his head and continue.  Then I pull back and I see that his eyes are open.  He says,"Hey Chris.  Did you get stuck with a dare in Candor or Dauntless?"  I scream and hug him.  After that he pulls me toward him and kisses me.  He whispers,"Chris, I love you with all my heart."

    "I love you, too, Uriah."  We let go of each other and look at our audience.  Everyone is so stunned that they look like they've seen a ghost.  And maybe they have considering Uriah just woke up from a coma that he wasn't supposed to wake up from.  I then ask Uriah,"How?"

    I thought he was going to ask what I meant, but he must have known what everyone was thinking.  "I just felt your lips on mine and I knew it was you.  I don't know how, but you encouraged me not to give up on everyone."  I tell him that we have to go shop for a wedding dress for Tris.  Then he learns about the engagement and congratulates Four and Tris.  I promise Uriah that I will visit him every day when he has to stay in his hospital bed.  Then, we leave him to his rest.

Tobias's POV

    Zeke has forgiven me for not looking after Uriah and it feels like he has taken a block of concrete off my shoulders.  Before shopping for a wedding dress, Tris walks down the hall with me, her hand in mine, and we find Caleb.  We see him and wave him over to us.  He walks over and says,"What's up?"

    Tris holds up her hand with her ring and we exclaim in unison,"We're getting married!"

    Caleb doesn't look too happy.  He grabs Tris's shoulders and says,"You're only sixteen!  What makes you think you can marry someone?!?!?"

    "Relax, Caleb.  Remember Mom said he's my true love?  Plus, I love him, and he loves me.  And, if Mom said that, then that means she'll approve of the marriage.  So, what do you say?"  Caleb glares at me.  "I gotta go catch up with Christina and Evelyn.  You too can work it out, can you?"  I nod and she skips off to the Bridal Shop. 

    I try to reason with him.  "Come on, Caleb.  You're her brother.  And anyway, I need you to walk her down the aisle.  She...she has no one else.  So, please.  It would mean a lot to her- to me, too."

    "Fine.  And since we will soon be brothers-in-laws, I guess we should hang out more, huh?"  I agree.  We shake hands and then go out for a soda.
