chapter 16

Tris's POV

    Today is the triplets' birthday and I am puking terribly.  Tobias called Evelyn and she said she could take care of them while we stop at Zeke and Shauna's house.  Once she gets here I blow an air kiss and hug to them so as not to give them whatever I have.  Tobias drives me to our doctors' house and when we get there we see Christina and Uriah's mini van parked in the driveway.  We ring the doorbell and Uriah answers.  "Oh.  Hey Tris, Tobias.  Where's the Ten trio?"

    I smile.  "They're with their grandmother.  Hey, are Shauna and Zeke there?"  He nods and tells us to come in.  "So...how is Aly?  Is she nice and healthy?"

    "Oh, yeah.  Chris feels the baby kick all the time!"  Just then Zeke comes in and greets us.

    "And what do I owe the pleasure of the legendary Four and Six entering our home?"  I tell him about how I have been throwing up all morning and he looks at me and tells me, "Tris, you're pregnant.  Shauna and I will have to do a little tests just to make sure, but as far as I can tell you are definitely pregnant."  I scream excitedly and just then Christina and Shauna enter the room.

    Tobias shouts to them, "We're having another baby!"  He hugs me and we kiss each other lovingly.  He picks me up and spins me around the room.  Big mistake.  I end up throwing up all over him and myself. 

    After that fiasco Shauna and Zeke did a test on me and confirmed my pregnancy.  It is too early to determine whether we are having a boy or a girl.  We decide not to be surprised when the baby comes because then we are prepared for what is coming, unlike our firstborns. 

    We head for home to tell the kids.  When we do, their faces are curious.  "Mommy, Daddy?"  Shaliene asks, "Where do babies come from?"  I share a glance with Tobias and we tell them it is time for their birthday lunch.  She seems to forget the question but then asks who is the oldest of the three.

    Tobias answers, "Well, Will is older than Natalie by a minute and Natalie is older than you by two minutes.  So Will is older than you by three minutes.  That means Will is the oldest, Natalie is the second oldest, and you are the youngest."  She nods in understanding and I am proud of her.  It's the Erudite in her that she asks questions like those.  Just then Caleb and Cara enter and the triplets yell their names in unison.  And on this day, June 12, we- Will, Shaliene, Natalie, Evelyn, Caleb, Cara, Tobias, and I- head to the kitchen to celebrate our little trio's birthdays.
