Uriah's POV
Today is Tris's birthday and I can't decide on what to get for her. She told Four that it was today last night but I could hear her whisper it to him. For some strange reason I kind of get the feeling that she wanted me to know. But why did she want me to know? She could have told Chris, her best friend. Instead, she chose me. Why? I think back to our conversation we had when I was still in my wheelchair. I remember her tears had left my shirt damp with sorrow. I am at some girl shop when I see Four walk through the entryway. I approach him and he gestures me toward him. He asks,"You getting something for Chris or something?"
"No, actually I'm here to buy a gift for Tris." I answer.
He looks at me questioningly. "And why is that?" I tell him I know that today is her birthday and ask him if he knew why she only told us. "Today is December 2. That was the day the explosion put you in a coma."
"I don't get it. What does that have to do with you?" I ask, confused.
He fidgets with his jacket zipper. "Uriah, it's time I apologize. I guess that's why she let you know as well as me. I'm the one who set off the explosion. I'm the reason why you were in a coma. I'm sorry." He turns to leave me, but then looks into my shocked eyes and says,"Just so you know, you should give her a picture frame that says encouraging words like 'fight back' and 'be Dauntless'. Phrases like that." He walks through the store, away from me and I just stand there looking like a kicked puppy. I was almost killed by him.
