(A/N): So I put some authors notes in here, some parts in here are not for the weak stomach, or the faint heart! I can guarantee you'll see them because they're in all capitals, so don't exit! Just skip over the part please!
-Destiny's POV-
I sudden crash wakes me up, and I look around.
No one is in here... But it sounded like it came from just across the room.
I look at the time, squinting to read it. It's one in the morning!
I force myself up to go investigate, stretching my arms and back.
Jade, Leigh, and Perrie are all in one bed, and they're all laying there sleeping.
I look behind me, expecting Jesy to be there, but she's not.
I stare at the empty space for a good ten seconds, trying to process everything.
I look over the other side, praying that she just fell off the bed, but she's not there either.
I get up off the bed quickly, getting a sudden adrenaline rush.
I decide not to wake the other girls until I know exactly what's going on.
I put on my slippers, opening the door slowly and quietly. I step halfway out, just too see if anyone's around.
It's pitch black, and there's no sounds except for my breathing. You could probably hear a pin drop out here!
I close the door slowly, trying to think.
I realize the bathroom door is closed, and I don't remember anyone closing it.
I knock lightly, but there's no answer. So I try again, still no answer.
I take a deep breath, hesitantly opening the door, scared of what I might see.
My heart is racing as I open the door, the light nearly blinding.
I look at Jesy, laying there on the floor.
I see the laxatives on the edge of the sink, and the toothbrush on the floor, along with the vomit in the toilet.
I fall to my knees beside her, and time seems to slow down.
"No!" I scream, my body numb.
I hear the other girls get up and walk over here.
"What's going on?" I hear one of them groan, but then gasp.
"Wake up!" I scream, as I look back at the other girls, who have traumatized looks on their faces.
"Call an ambulance." I hear one of them say, then see Perrie put the phone to her ear.
"Go tell Tyler, run!" Leigh tells Jade, and then Jade rushes out of the room.
"They're on their way." Perrie assures me as I hold Jesy close, breaking down in tears.
"I'll go wait for them at the door." Leigh says, going downstairs as well.
I hold Jesy's seemingly lifeless body close, hoping the ambulance will be here soon.
This is her golden hour, but I don't know how long it'll take for paramedics to get here.
"There's an ambulance station nearby, they'll be here soon." Perrie informs me, still standing in the doorway.
Leigh comes bursting in through the door, out of breath.
"They're here." She manages to get out, and then the paramedics come in.
Perrie pulls me away from Jesy as the paramedics go in, and I cry into Perrie's shoulder.
Leigh hugs Perrie and I, telling us that Jade and Tyler are still downstairs.
We slip on our shoes quickly, not bothering to take jackets or sweaters.
I hear the paramedics leave the room, and we follow them downstairs to where the stretcher is.
There are quite a few people crowded around in the main corridor, probably woken up by the commotion.
The girls, Tyler, and I follow them outside, where they get into the ambulance.
"Girls, get to the hospital, I need to stay here and get everyone calmed down." Tyler tells us as the ambulance drives off, tossing Leigh the keys.
"Ok." Jade replies, shaking her head.
"You alright?" Perrie asks, opening the van door for Jade and I.
"Ya, but everything is slowly coming back to me." She says, blinking a few times, then gets in.
"Keep workin' on it Jadey." She smiles, taking a quick breath.
Perrie runs around to the passenger side, while I get in beside Jade.
I shut the door quickly, sheltering us from the wind.
Leigh starts the van, quickly pulling out of the driveway.
We speed down the highway, not too far behind from the ambulance.
The van catches up, but I still have no idea what to think of the whole situation.
I stay silent, just trying to keep calm.
"Where's the hospital they're taking her to?" Jade asks, breaking the silence.
"I think in Harrow, that's the closest." Perrie replies, unsure of herself.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We reach the St. Mark's Hospital, parking as close to the door as we can.
We run in and rush up to the administration desk, and the receptionist gives us a look.
"Are you here to see some one?" She asks, and I try to keep my cool.
"A woman was just brought here by an ambulance, Jesy Nelson, and we're here to see her." Perrie explains, catching her breath.
"Okay, I'll go and see if the doctors have gotten to her yet." The perky lady smiles, getting up and walking to the back room.
I sigh, leaning against the high desk.
I hear the clicking of heels, and I quickly turn around.
"She just arrived in the Emergency Room, and the doctor said you could have a bit of time to see her." She informs us, and she points to the heavy door. "Just go through there."
"Thank you." Jade thanks her as Leigh holds open the massive door.
"You girls here to see Jesy Nelson?" A doctor asks, and I nod. "Come back here with me. I'm doctor Parkson by the way." He starts directing us, walking quickly.
We follow him to a hallway outside the operating room, where it's not as bright.
"You're taking her into surgery? What the hell happened?" Perrie asks, worry in her voice.
"It's not exactly a surgery, more like an emergency procedure." The doctor Parkson tells us, taking a long sigh. "I'm afraid your friend has overdosed on laxatives, and we need to get them out of her ASAP."
"Um... Not to be rude, but where exactly is Jesy?" Jade asks, as we keep following the doctor.
"Right this way, girls. She's half awake right now, so you have a few minutes to talk to her before she's take to the O.R." He replies, opening a door.
We make our way into the small room, and Jesy smiles at us.
"Hey guys." She greets us, her voice weak.
I run up to her and hug her softly, glad to see her.
"Why'd you do it, Jes?" I ask, tearing up a bit.
"I just wanted to be like you guys." She answers, letting me pull away from the hug.
"What do you mean?" Perrie asks, a look of confusion on her face.
"Skinny, thin, and just overall beautiful." She answers, looking down in shame.
"Jesy Louise Nelson, you are beautiful just they way you are! Why would you ever do this to yourself?!?" I exclaim, losing control of my emotions.
"I don't know..." She trails off, her face emotionless. "Aside from that, what are you going to do to me?" She asks, looking at the doctor with wide eyes.
"Um, it'll be quite an uncomfortable procedure if I'm honest." Doctor Parkson starts, tapping his fingers on his clibboard. "We need to pump your stomach to get the laxatives out. They're potentially deadly if we leave them too long. The worst part is that you have to be awake for it." He explains, and even I'm shaking at the thought.
Everyone is silent for a second, then the doctor speaks again.
"You're allowed to have some one there with you if you want for support." He says, and Jesy looks at us.
"Alright, who's got the guts to come in with me? Or the strongest stomach?" She asks, acting like her normal self for a momemt.
Perrie, Leigh, and Jade step back, and I laugh a bit.
"I'll be right there the whole time." I promise Jesy, rubbing her cold arm.
"We need to go now." The doctor breaks the conversation, starting to wheel Jesy's stretcher out of the room.
"I guess I'll see you three later." I smile, leaving the other girls to wait.
We go to the O.R, where the surgeons are waiting.
The doctor hands me a gown, scrubs, a surgical mask, and a scrub cap.
"We'll wait until you've changed to start the procedure, wearing these are necessary." Doctor Parkson instructs me, and points to the bathroom behind me. "In there is fine."
I nod, going into the small, closet-like bathroom.
I take off my shoes, and put on the scrubs, which are surprisingly comfortable. I slip on the white coat, buttoning it up quickly.
I bunch my long hair into the scrub cap, having difficulties with the few stray locks. Lastly, I put on the surgical mask, which I don't particularly like.
I open the door, deciding to leave my shoes outside the O.R door.
I walk in, and Jesy looks at me, a terrified look on her face.
"I'm right here." I assure her, and she takes my hand in hers.
"Alright Jesy, we're just going to spray something in your mouth that should numb your throat." One of the doctors announce, and Jesy opens her mouth for them.
They spray the numbing medication in her mouth, and she pulls a face.
"Tastes like shit..." She says under her breath, and I laugh slightly.
The doctor in charge of the equipment starts filling a needle with something, probably a sedative.
"We're going to give you a sedative to let the procedure go more smoothly, you might feel a slight pinch." Another doctor says, holding her arm.
Both Jesy and I look away as they inject her with the fluid, nearly making me sick.
That's the only part I can't handle, needles of any kind.
(A/N: ANYONE WITH A WEAK STOMACH OR A FAINT HEART CAN SCROLL UNTIL YOU SEE ANOTHER ONE OF THESE NOTES IN ALL CAPITALS!)
"Is your throat numb?" Doctor Parkson asks Jesy, and she nods.
"Would you like us to go in through the nose or mouth? Your choice." He asks, and she points to her mouth, not able to speak.
One doctor tilts her head back, while another gets the tube-like tool ready.
Jesy squeezes my hand lightly, and they position the long tube by her mouth.
"You ready?" Doctor Parkson asks, and Jesy nods, squeezing her eyes shut.
"3... 2... 1, here we go." He instructs, and Jesy squeezes my hand tightly.
They guide the tube down her throat I'm assuming, probably to the stomach.
I see tears streaming down her cheeks, which kills me inside. I wipe them away with my free hand.
"You're doing awesome, Jes." I whisper, and she opens her eyes to look at me.
I can feel my hand going numb, but that doesn't matter. I try to shake the feeling of being light headed aside, for the sake of helping a friend.
"Breathe through your nose, you're doing great, Jesy." A doctor tells her, and she loosens her grip on my aching hand.
I watch intently as they start to suck the contents out of her stomach.
"This is going to feel really weird, but it won't take long." Another doctor says, and I make eye contact with Jesy, just to try and keep her calm.
"And we are done! Hold still while we get this out now." Doctor Parkson announces, and Jesy looks relieved.
They start pulling the tube out of her throat, fairly quick.
Once it's out, Jesy breathes heavily.
(A/N: ALL YOU WEAK STOMACHS AND FAINT HEARTS MAY READ AGAIN!)
"Thank you." She says to me weakly, her eyes half closed.
"Anytime, I've got the guts to see this kind of stuff." I laugh, walking with the stretcher as they start rolling it out of the operating room.
"We'll get some sort of food into you once your up in your room, just hang in there for now." The doctor tells her, while I quickly grab my shoes. "Your blood sugar is low right now."
We reach the elevator, and the doctor presses the button.
"So we're done here?" Jesy asks, her eyes completely closed now. The elevator arrives, and we get in easily. The doctor presses the '2' button, and the doors close.
"Not quite, but almost." The doctor assures her, but she's already asleep.
"Is that normal?" I ask, referring to Jesy, who's now out cold.
"Yes. It's just from the sedatives and the low blood sugar. She'll be just fine." He smiles, then the doors open, revealing floor two.
"Good to know." I smile back, following him down to room 412.
Perrie, Leigh, and Jade are already waiting there, and the doctor puts the stretcher against the wall.
"Some one else will be back later to check on her." He says, then leaves, shutting the door behind him.
"I don't know how you do it, Dest." Leigh comments, shaking her head.
"I watched a lot of medical shows when I was younger, not much really bothers me when it comes to stuff like this." I reply, taking off all the gear I had to put on. "It wasn't even that bad."
"What did they do?" Perrie asks, curiosity filling her voice.
"They had to pump her stomach, remember? That's what doctor Parkson told us. They basically had to do a Gastric Suction." I explain, folding the coat up nicely and putting everything else on top.
"What's that?" Jade asks, quirking an eyebrow.
"They stick a damn tube down your throat and suck everything out of your stomach." I put bluntly, realizing that's the only way to explain it to them.
A series of 'Oh's echo through the room, and I roll my eyes.
"I'm just glad we got her help on time, it could've been worse." Leigh states, smiling. I love how she always brings out the positive in everything, it makes everything ten times better.
I still feel bad though, for not realizing what she was doing. I should've seen the little red flags, but we just didn't realize.
