Altaïr's POV
"Is there anything else this century has to offer?" Desmond asks.

We walk down the dirt path towards the nearby town, and I chuckle.

"I'm sure you're going to enjoy our food."

"What are we eating?"

Malik holds back laughter as I finally speak.

"Uh, tonight, we're having beef stew and bread."

"Anything else?" Desmond asks.

"Nope!" I say. He groans and Malik and I laugh.

"It keeps us alive," Malik says.

"What about junk food?" Desmond asks.

"Junk food? That sounds like garbage," I tease. Desmond glares at me.

"Jerk."

"Novice."

We arrive back at the Assassin's Bureau and we sit down at the table in the dining hall. Malik grabs some stew and some bread for each of us and brings it back to where we're sitting. I stand and grab beer from the front.

"Desmond, you're good with this stuff! Do you know what this is made of?" I ask. Desmond reluctantly takes the wooden mug from my hand and takes a sip. As he does this, his face crunches up and he swallows it with much difficulty.

"How do you drink this stuff?!" he asks, setting the mug down on the table.

"Well, you get used to it, I guess. It's pretty much fermented barley, according to the brewers in town. Then they add some stuff to make it less disgusting," I say.

"Gross..." Desmond mutters. He takes a bite of stew and stares at us.

"Does all of your food have no flavour!?"

"Well, spice is pretty expensive, so yeah. Most of it is flavoured with carrot and such," Malik says. Desmond groans and smacks his head on the table.

"I"M GOING TO STARVE!!!"

"Not if you suck it up and eat," Malik mutters.

"Come on, Desmond. You don't want to go to bed hungry," I say in a sing-songy voice.

"Alright, Mom," Desmond says sarcastically.

Once we're done eating, we head back to our rooms and Desmond waves goodbye to us.

"Goodnight, guys. See you in the morning."

"Goodnight Desmond," Malik and I reply.

I walk to my room and curl up in bed, falling asleep in no time.
