Desmond's POV
We arrive back in the Villa, and Ezio is grinning from ear to ear.
"Leonardo!" he calls. Leo walks from his study and smiles.
"How did it go? Are you two alright?"
"We're perfect, Leo. Cesare is dead," I say.
Leonardo approaches us and hugs us both.
"I'm glad. You don't have to worry about him anymore."
I grin and walk to my room. I quickly change into my regular clothes and am about to start relaxing when Rebecca's voice booms in my head.
"Desmond, it's that time again," she says.
"Wow, haven't heard from you in a while! And what do you mean, that time again?" I respond.
"Just go find Leonardo and Ezio," Lucy says, her voice replacing Rebecca's.
As I leave my room, I finally figure out what's happening.
"Leo! Ezio!" I call.
"What is it, Desmond?" Leonardo asks.
"You know how you predicted that I was travelling through time in order of century?" I ask. Leonardo nods, and Ezio appears beside us.
"What's going on?" he asks.
"I'm leaving this time," I say sadly.
"But... you just got here! We have so much more we could do!" Ezio says.
"I know, but I can't control it," I say.
"I missed you, Desmond. In that moment, when we were all teleported to our own centuries, I thought I would never see you again in the flesh. Then you appeared! But now, you're leaving this time, instead of me leaving yours," Ezio says. I smile sadly and hug him.
"It's alright, Ezio. I'll be okay," I say.
I begin to fade, and I hug Leonardo.
"I'll miss you both," I say.
"We'll miss you too, Desmond," Leonardo says.
With that, I disappear from the Villa, leaving Ezio and Leonardo staring at the spot where I stood.
----------------
I fall and land with a splash. I can't breathe, and I manage to reach air, coughing and choking on... seawater?
"What was that!?" I hear. I look up and see the massive side of a ship. A rope is thrown down, and I grab it quickly. I'm hauled onto the ship deck, and I see a group of pirates looking down at me.
"I think the Captain wants to see this."
Edward's POV
"Sir! We found a man in the ocean! He looks the same as the boy you described in your stories!"
I look up from my map at the crew mate in my doorway, disbelief in my eyes.
"It cannot be. There is no way it could be," I stutter.
I leave my cabin and see my crew gathered around a person.
"Move!" I call. They part, and I see the most unlikely person of all in front of me.
"Desmond!?" I exclaim.
"Edward..." he mumbles before passing out.
"How the hell is he here?" I mutter to myself, picking him up off the deck. "Back to your stations, lads!"
My crew disperses, and I bring Desmond back to my cabin. I lay him on the small cot in the corner, and he sleeps soundly.
I try to focus on my maps, but my mind is jumbled with thoughts.
How is Desmond here?
A/N: Yay updates!
I have a lot to do this evening, so please pardon the lack of updates that will probably happen.
